It always aggravates me how when big characters in the show are just written off, and never mentioned again. The writers just expected us to forget all about them when in real life they would definitely been mentioned Because a lot of them had large impacts on the lives of the main characters. They also forgot a lot of plot lines like how now one remembers that Svetlana and Mickey were married (never mind that they have a son, That Kev and V later adopt. Somehow Mickey forgets that he was ever married to her and forgets about the existence of his son. Its not a good look on the writers for constantly forgetting about big characters, large plot lines from previous seasons, characters having unreasonable stints in jail (or somehow avowing going to jail Altogether) and overall writing characters who dont really make sense, like Liam (and how Frank is somehow his dad through recessive genes on Monicas side, how is OD on cocaine in season 4 never effected him later on in life, and how he even survives while being constantly ignored and forgotten by his family and his legal guardian Fiona, who leaves hime with no official guardian while he is still under 18.

Ian looked at himself as a member of their family and felt it didnt matter who his bio dad was. Lips situation was realistic and shows even a genius can make bad decisions and how alcoholism can ruin your life. Frank went to Northwestern before his downward spiral. Frank says his kids are a little bit of him It showed a pattern repeating itself. Fiona had a realistic reaction to her life falling falling apart. She spent her whole life struggling and was finally doing well only to lose it all. She turned to alcohol like many would. As for Frank surviving everything. He is a survivor and definitely a cockroach. In the end it showed him dying alone. Fiona ran things for a long time and didnt back away until most of them were adults. She had given her whole adult life to them and busted her ass for them. I think a lot of these points made in this video make the show realistic. Life doesnt always turn out in a happy ending

Honestly, I don't like Debbie or her devolution. At first, I thought she was a good kid and an overall good character. I thought she might turn out a good person and not like Frank or Monica. I thought at the beginning her character had a chance of having good potential. But once she met that boy, started dating him, then tried to trap him into staying with her forever by getting pregnant by him and lied about being on birth control. It was clear that she was going to get worse. I get that she wanted to try to get a better life but her trying to trap the first guy that showed interest in her, is not the way to go. Her character went downhill from that point forward.
Also, I don't like how she tried to force Matty, an 20-year-old, to date her after lying about her age then date raped him while he was unconscious. Another very low and dark moment for her character.

I dont think they just had bad writing as much as they dropped many plot lines on purpose because its so realistic, for example lip being a genius. In life many people have the potential to do big things with their IQ but they lose sight of that goal after having kids, family troubles, personal struggles etc. same with Ians dad its not that they dropped that but Ian felt no need to interact with him and complicate things even more with someone who already had a family and he had his. It just has a more relevant feel to real life

Its just shows how bad the writing got:
Lip went from genius to a loser. What happen to school?
Debbie went from the sweet nurturing caregiver of the family to a selfish con artist. also gay, guess there Ian wasn't gay enough, so they had to add two gay characters. (Part of making the show even more woke)
Carl went from little gangster psycho to boy scout, wanting to save the world!
Kevin got dumber and dumber as the show went on.
I'm missing some, I'll edit later.

The whole timeline of when Monica leaves them is so confusing. They mention their ages when she left but the time said to have passed since she left doesnt match up. They fail to specify when she left compared to when she was just sick. They talk about it as if fiona was raising them for years when its only a little over one year by season 1. You wonder are they talking about when she was bipolar? When did Frank start drinking? Its poorly explained and I hate it

For me, it has been the entirety of Fiona's love interests. I've only finished through S6, but so far, every dude that she gets with has been so unrealistically ignoring all of her red flags. Frankly, Jimmy/Steve was my favorite because he essentially matched Fiona's degeneracy (despite the fact that he's from an aristocrat family.
Every other dude absolutely has deserved what they got from her, because anyone with a brain could've seen it coming.

Debbies devolution is the one that makes me the most upset, with Fionas being a close second. I get that in a way, its more realistic that she became who she did, but the writers made it SO hard to sympathize with her. Hell, Frank and Monica elicit more sympathy from the audience than debbie. Weve already seen the fallen prodigy with Lip and somewhat with Fiona- I wish theyd done something more compelling with Debbie.

On Shameless, when Fiona left she was still technically Liam Debbie and Carl's legal guardian since they were still under age, that particular subject was never really brought up after Fiona got custody and then left.
When Fiona did finally leave, Lip AKA Phillip should have been put in charge, not Debbie, since he was more responsible.
Shameless U. S. Reboot, that could be interesting.

There is one plot hole that you guys forgot, the whole thing in the Season 6 finale where everybody tried to kill Frank, I get Frank ruined Fionia's Wedding but I feel like it took things too far because murder was the one line the Gallager Clan would not cross. Not only that but it was something that was only barely addressed in Season 7 or there were no consequences.

This show seems like a mashup of my name is earl and Sons of Anarchy lol all the characters are goofy af too. Shameless uk showed what living in the uk was really like for people. This USA version is a polished up drama for 16 year old girls lol, the UK version would really traumatise you as the events in the show are based on events that happened in the UK

Also for Ian's case if he was raised by frank and was already feeling uncared for and neglected why would he even want a new father figure who is defiantly blood to frank who would/could abandon him as well. Also his wife wanted nothing to do with Ian or lip being related and was already a red flag to what potential father son relationship could've happened

The mother admits to leaving after Liam was 2 months and Fiona admits shes been gone for 21 months so the end of season 1 should roughly fall on his 2nd birthday. micky was then in jail for 13 months (12 for the original charge plus 1 extra for attacking a guard ) meaning Liam should be 3 by the beginning of season 2 however he is stated to be 2

The biggest plot hole for me was time and everybody's ages. Like Fiona said Monica left when she was 9 but she's at least 20 years older then Liam, and I get that Debbie is older but why are her and Carl the exact same age. And yeah why was Liam a baby for so long, by the time he starts talking he's older then Carl was at the beginning of the show.

I don't think the Ian's dad plotline is a hole when Ian says himself he isn't interested, especially after seeing how Ian's dads Wife reacts to them being there. Plus while he didn't seem terrible, Ian's dad probably weren't that bothered himself considering who he had Ian with and how he simply let them leave with out trying to stop him.

10: 00 i have had the displeasure of knowing a few people like frank in my life and with that i can tell you this is not a plot hole but just reality. some of the worst, most destructive, careless, horrible people seem to always be damn near immortal and manages to escape death when they have absolutely no right to do so.

One of the biggest plot holes for me was that lip was a genius and could test out at anytime but some how they forgot that on the next season. Some how he struggling to graduate or even bother to test out. Then he is struggling in college lol first 2 years are easy its just high school review mostly lol.

I don't think they forgot lip was a genius I think it's just because he was out of school so wasn't really much to do with it anymore we were used to seeing him outsmart people on the streets so it was normal to see it's when he was in school where his intelligence really had a chance to shine

i just finished my first watch of this show recently and it was really hard to get through the last seasons when the plots started having so many holes. i really stayed for ian and mickey, although both of them had some weird plotholes when it came to prison their story was really well done.

Folks like to think of the way Debbie turned out as a plot hole or bad writing, but I knew a brilliant girl in school that gave in to peer pressure and pretty much became Debbie. Just because a character doesn't end up the way people want it doesn't mean it's a mistake

It all should have ended with season 9. Liam should have went with Fiona. We could have seen a flash forward of everyone elses lives. Frank didnt have to die and the last two seasons that ended up feeling like a poorly written comedy didnt have to happen.

another thing with Liam that always confused me is his age. He seemed to be around one to two years old in the first season, when Fiona was twenty one.
But then Monica had left when Fiona was 16, I think. So where did Liam come from?

How about Sammi told Frank that her Mom lost a foot. I don't think Queenie was limping in the least. Plus I don't know of any Dr that's going to put a severe alcoholic on a list for a liver.
There were a couple more but I can't remember right now

One thing is I think Kev didn't forget but he accepted that his BM MIL wanted to raise the baby as hers and that the relationship dynamic would be even more weird if the baby knew his father would be his uncle and his father so that I can understand

Agreed with all except num 2, frank was supposed to survive as much as he did, the story was being told from his viewpoint and memories which is why his death was the conclusion of the show. The beginning was started from his mind monologuing

I always wanted to know what happened with that community Frank went to with his ex, the one he took the gang bangers to because of the poppy flowers and opium tea.
Frank also seems to forget he has a grandchild before Franny too.

Ian made it clear that despite the test, Frank is his father and his siblings are his full siblings.
Frank, though a neglectful and shitty parent, was the only dad ever knew.
