Traditionally women want men who are successful and established so they can be attracted to older successful men. Men want women childbearing age and beautiful. It's an unwritten rule of society. Still in hollywood they capitalize on casting may December relationships. I only object when the female is under twenty five so basically still a child and promotes cradle robbing. Adults can decide who they date for whatever reason. Remember women are encouraged to date successful men who may be much older. Men don't have strong society pressure to date someone close to their proper age. Charles was encouraged to marry Diana for her youth, virginity and child bearing. Otherwise he probably would have married camilla first. the rules and expectations prevail.

Nothing shocking about mentioned age gaps. All of them look good and entertaining together. I wonder why would you even try to take all those movies and present them as something shocking when they clearly aren't. Wouldn't it better instead to create a list with the best age-gap romance movies? And how about focusing on the quality of the stories instead of age differences?

Just another bunch of examples from a male-dominated industry. Look back at My Fair Lady, Julie Andrews was 19 and Rex Harrison was 56 -- almost three times her age! It's been going on forever! But let's also consider that sometimes a roll in the hay with a well-positioned old coot might land a young girl a film role or recording contract.

in some cases, the age gap was very much the point of the story, and was mentioned; it's a bit creepier when it isn't.
You don't mention older movies - It happened a lot with Fred Astaire, though he'd often needed someone young enough to keep up with him.

It's an anime and I love it nonetheless but the age gap in Spirited Away (9 and 16-17 possibly more) was pretty shocking. I saw it as an adult though so maybe it struck me more than if I had seen it as a child. 14: 38 Damn that's a huge age gap!
