Ill tell you the reason that filmed didnt get made, anything that goes against capitalism is actively dismissed. Because the film industry and investors for the films depend on capitalism. If we came up with nonprofit film making we would start to see some pretty out there and deep movie concepts, instead of the rampid reboots and the repackaging of the same movie plots over and over and over again.

It's not my all-time favourite but Boys don't cry by Mallory Blackman made a great impression on me. Berlie Doherty's Dear Nobody and as I mentioned in another comment Annie on my mind by Nancy Garden really stayed with me and influenced me. Also surprised Looking for Alaska wasn't a pick, it was an enjoyable read though I read it as an adult. Craig Thompson's Blankets too, but I was younger.

I got a little misty eyed when The Hate U Give popped up. I actually watched the movie a while ago and I bursted into tears. The story is very moving and powerful and Amandla Stenberg's performance in it was tremendous. And everything about it just makes you want to grab a box of tissues because of how powerful and moving the story is.

I remember when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out. My family and I went on the day when the book was released. Everyone was dressed up, there were actors dressed as Potter characters in the windows of the bookstore, there was huge poster board with Who Will Die, and Snape is friend or foe

I'm gonna be honest when i first saw The Hate U Give i said this felt like a historical film. It turned out to me it was a predicament i never thought would be true. I can say it was a close foreshadow of 2020 George floyd events and one my friends and teachers saw it when i was at school.

Am I the only one who noticed that the narrator is talking about the Hunger Games and mentions that the United States is split into factions and then goes on to say is separated by districts. The faction system was in the Divergent series, not the Hunger Games. Time stamp 8: 02.

Love how much better these books have gotten as the years go by (also, I would've changed an overrated books of the late 2000s, post 2007, and perhaps add such a great book published in 2011 instead. Oh well)

The Hunger Games was published when I was in Middle School and it got me into reading for fun. I even had double copies of the series, but Ive since donated all my YA books to a local charity.
