I can't help but wander if there truly is something special about Cobweb, the Black Cat. I have at least two completely different types of theories for why he was acting so suspiciously about that hidden Black Flame Candle. (Due to somebody elses comment further below, I have a third theory which mixes in a little with the second)
1. He is Thackery Binx's Cat Son, I mean are we really to believe that while Binx being alive for that many years, never met any domesticed Pet Female Cats during that time? Being why Cobweb seemed more life like than we first thought.
Or
2. When the young Boy who followed the Sanderson's around all night after watching them fly over head, he admits he watched their demise, being how he came into possession of the Book, and I'm guessing the Dennison Siblings and Allison Buried Binx's Cat body out of respect for him. What if, after he was Buried the young boy, who had very quickly grown overly obsessed with the Sanderson's, and knowing their backstory very well, dug up the Binx Cat Body (after the Dennison's and Allison left, then Book gave him a Spell to help bring the Cat back to life, not necessarily as Binx but perhaps reincarnated of somebody else who had passed away, who was also a victim of the Sanderson Sisters from the past? Only the Owner doesn't know he is reincarnated, but just truly believe he is just a, zombie cat being why he always claims, He's not alive or talk like Binx, just thought it would be good for business, but secretly the Cat can once again talk, and if they come out with a third film, he OR she finally owns up to who they are and what they are trying to do. continue from where Binx left off. which also mixes in with my first theory, that being Binx's Son or Daughter, Cobweb also has the ability to talk and understands the history of he's father, and so decides to take over from their father.

Gilbert picked up the Body of Binx's cat body after the Dennison's and Allison buried him, got hold of the Book (which I forgot was left back at the Cottage where Jay and Ernie were still held captive, which the young boy would've seen during his visit there. They clearly begged for help, but after Gilbert admits being tortured and bullied by the Teenagers for his Candy, so instead searched the Book for a way to punish them which insead ends up hanging them and then Book showed him about the spell to make Black Flame Candles, as the Book clearly wants his Mistress back. The theory about Cobweb is, after being given the spell for the Candle, and after the death of the two Teenagers, Gilbert also found a spell to bring the Cat back to life, only instead of Binx living inside of the Body now, its the passed away Jay and Ernie who had been reincarnated into the Cat, AND this being why Cobweb is acting so life like, only he doesn't talk because well, lets face it, Jay and Ernie weren't exactly the most Smartest Characters from the first film, so they possibly don't even know they can talk whilst living inside the cat (or they don't even realize they are dead or something silly lol)
I know so many Hocus Pocus fans will no doubt disagree but, just something that quickly came to mind after watching this video clip.

Oh yes I love Hocus Pocus too so much better I've been watching it now on Disney Plus I watched it over 67 times that's a new one on me for motion picture you just never get enough or tired of it have to let you all know out there it's worth all 67 times and more please please I was hearing there was going to be an animation of Hocus Pocus 3 possibly no no no let's put it back on Disney Plus for a number three thank you Marcy PS 68 is coming up it's on right now LOL enjoy

I'm still confused how they came back that spell was for that one time Winnie never did it again they all exploded at the end of the first movie
Unless Winnie spell was saying everything we die we just come back whenever a Virginia lights the black flame candle
But she didn't say that in the first movie at all

There are still some things that don't add-up: if all that happened when they were kids why the sisters didn't try to enact revenge on Trask or his descendants when they woke up in 1993? Also If they weren't really dead at the end of the first movie how come Tackery was released of his curse? Actually wrong about Sarah. Ironically, shes the one who remembers that its dead mans toes (the others ignore her, she was about to find the kids when theyre hiding (at the restaurant) and was the one to suggest they use the potion on all the kids they have at the house. The others just ignore her

If you watch the 'flash mob' carefully, for a split second, you'll see a girl dressed as Madonna just like Max's mom in the first movie. After Mike gets a scare from a witch decoration in front of a store, look to the right side of the screen and if you look closely you'll see her.

Who noticed that her hand when she was putting the salt in Walgreens her hand was glowing and that is probably why the salt actually worked because she put a spell or something without knowing and I did not know her name but you know who I'm talking about

There was 2 references to the older couple from the first movie, one is the one you mentioned, the other is when Winnie looked inside a window and 2 guys were watching that exact scene from Hocus Pocus 1.

i honestly didnt really enjoy the sequel apart from the start with the young versions of the sanderson sisters. i thought the storyline was kind of weak and to me seems like a sequel wasnt really needed
