I'm surprised Norman Reedus didn't make this list, because when he first auditioned for a role on The Walking Dead he originally auditioned for the role of Merle, but Michael Rooker was already chosen for the role but since the creators really wanted Norman to be on the show, they came up with the role of Daryl Dixon just for Norman. or so i heard anyway.

What about Marina Sirtis and Denise Crosby on Star Trek: The Next Generation? Originally, Crosby tried out for the role of Counsellor Deanna Troi, while Sirtis auditioned for Security Chief Macha Hernandez. Both were even cast in these roles. Then Gene Roddenberry decided to switch them, and changed the Security Chief's name to Tasha Yar.

Gina Linetti being written especially for Chelsea Peretti makes complete sense, given that a secretary character isn't exactly what we are used to seeing in cop shows, let alone interacting with the other characters as much.
