Top 10 The Big Bang Theory Supporting Characters

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
These supporting Big Bang Theory characters practically stole the show. For this list, well be looking at the best characters that were not part of the core cast on this definitive sitcom. Our countdown includes Mary Cooper, Bert Kibbler, Wil Wheaton, and more! Who's YOUR favorite TBBT supporting character?

My two favorite supporting characters are Arthur Jeffries and Will Wheaton. Bob Newhart's personal style often didn't work for me in other performances. It was perfect on his own show, of course, but in other places it didn't seem to be a great fit. Forgive me for failing to remember an example, but the reason is that I am a huge Newhart fan, so coming up with those times when I though his performance was lacking is terribly difficult. But on TBBT he was absolutely perfect!
My other favorite is Will Wheaton. He played a super genius on Star Trek, so bringing him into a show featuring super geniuses was. genius! Plus, by playing himself he was able to spoof so many things all at the same time; the 'Star Trek versus Star Wars' trope; the 'isn't a genius but plays one on TV' trope; the 'TV star turned regular guy' trope; and the 'this is all for fun' trope, which sorta kinda breaks the fourth wall by emphasizing that TBBT is also a TV show, as was Star Trek. By playing himself, he breaks the fourth wall without even having to look into the camera. Genius!

I'm a lot like Stewart in that in the story of my life, I feel like a minor supporting character on the sidelines. Either that or seeing the play that is my life play out on the stage, I am somehow the only player in the audience. It's very disconcerting.

I would have ranked the moms higher on the list.
1. Mrs. Wolowitz
2. Beverly Hofstader
3. Mary Cooper
4. Will Wheaton
5. Arthur Jeffries
6. Stuart
7. Zack
8. Raj's parents
9. Burt
10. Leslie Winkle

Wil Wheaton is definitely my number 1 followed by Barry Kripke - he had me in stitches! Followed by Howards Mom! Im surprised by Stuart being number one - I always viewed him as one of the main characters!

When Leonard and Sheldon first met there was very noticeble actor who played Sheldon's Ex-rommate. Steven Yeun. Can you picture him as Sheldon's roommate? Let's mash with Walking Dead.
reply

No way I could rank these characters. Stuart was almost a regular. The only character I never cared for was Penny' brother. He didn't really seem like a meth dealer to me.
reply

They missed Vernee Watson! She was there since THE first episode until da end. She played the nurse in practically every season. Plus she was also in young Sheldon.
reply

Kripke is brilliant. He is funny and shows Sheldon up. He is as intelligent, if not more, as Sheldon, without eidetic memory. Pity you did not include Leslie
reply

Ok, in my opinion Stuart, Professor Proton and Mrs Wolowitz are the top 3 and Leonard and Sheldon's moms should definitely be higher than Zack. in my opinion

As a comedy fan (though from the UK) who grew up in the 1970's, I was blown away to see Bob Newhart show up on TBBT. Such an iconic comedian from yesteryear.
reply

Bob Newhart did us such an amazing favor by only agreeing to the role if it was a semi-recurring role. The episodes that he was in were some of my favorite.
reply

If Sheldon ever wants to picture Barry getting his comeuppance, he could always watch season 7 of Charmed, where the actor gets torn to shreds.
reply

Stuart is essentially a main character by the end of the show. I wish him and Denise got into the intro cause they were very regular at the time
reply

Mary Cooper had a point about Superegos and ids. Freudian psychology is mostly discredited today. Someone like Leonard's mother should know that.
reply

She wasn't in all that many episodes, but Beverly needs to be higher than 9. Some of the funniest episodes in the series, were ones she was in
reply

Stuart Bloom and his actor, Kevin Sussman, was promoted to the main cast in season 6 so he technically should not have been in this list.
reply

When I saw Leonards and Sheldons moms in 9th and 10th place I thought the list was upside down or that I missed part of the list hahahah
reply

Mary Cooper should have been #1 or #2. She was the best with Kripke following.
How is Stephen Hawking not on the list?

reply

I was always sad that while they talked about alternate realities, the show never explored any of them. Lancelot Link anyone?

Before this episode I had no idea that Ms Wolowitz first name was Debbie. Thank you for that little bit of trivia.
reply

Though I totally agree with number 1, I don't understand how Beverly and Mary ended up at the bottom of the list.
reply

Thank you for not including Priya at all. I stopped watching her episodes. Love the actress, hate the character.
reply

Stuart is the WORST character. I cant get through an episode without wanting to punch him through the TV
reply

Barry kripke is my favourite. A close next is prof proton and i also think debbie walowitz is so funny
