I like Anne Hathaways version of Catwoman for three main reasons:
1) Her personality takes on different roles and they can change in an instant. Like when she is in Waynes private room. In her Oops! moment, she instantly switches from ditzy and naive maid to smooth criminal with a hint of charm. Or the bar scene where she, again, is the smooth criminal. But, when the police arrive, she is screaming hysterically which throws the police off because this causes the police to dismiss any notion that she was a key player in the shootout. And then she goes back to smooth criminal after the police pass her by. This sets her as a more dynamic character than Pfeifer or Kravitz whose Catwoman characters stay pretty much the same throughout.
2) Nolans version of the Batman story has a realistic setting to it whereas Burtons version with Michelle Pfeifer has more of a cartoon/comic book setting. Take Michelle Pfeifers version into consideration. No real woman licks herself or says meow unless she has some mental issues. But, in a comic book world, this works just as Penguin dresses up in a penguin suit. The main reason I like Batman over other superheroes is because he doesnt have superpowers. He has flaws and struggles to overcome. He has to rely on his wit, his stealth, and expert martial art abilities to gain the upper hand over his opponents. Hathaways Catwoman fits perfectly with this realistic setting. She doesnt even go by the name of Catwoman or have anything to do with cats.
3) I saved the best for the last. The biggest reason I love Hathaways Catwoman is because it tells the story of redemption. Hathaways Catwoman starts out as a bad person. And she undergoes a transformation, a genuine change of heart. She shows shock and remorse at handing Batman over to Bane. When Blake asks her if she knows whether Bruce Wayne is still alive, the way she answers Im not sure, you can see there is pain in her response. When Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham, not only does he forgive her, he shows faith in her, asking her for help, something which totally throws her off balance. But, she gracefully accepts and from here the real change starts to happen. Bruce/Batman gives her two outs. Once completed, she was free to go. But she stuck around and went above and beyond what was originally asked of her. All she had to do get the Clean Slate was take Bruce to Lucius Fox. But she stuck around and Bruce, now, a Batman, takes her to his Batpod. At the Batpod scene she is no longer smooth and in control. We see her in a more vulnerable state because now she is not only concerned for herself, she is concerned for Batmanss well-being. She pleas with him to save himself and to come away with her. She tells him hes already done enough for the people of Gotham, that he owes the people of Gotham nothing, and that hes already given everything for them. And this conversation is crucial for her change because this is where she realizes Batmans true selfless nature because his reply to her saying hes already given everything is Not everything. Not yet
With her second out, her only requirement was to use the blasters to clear a path through the debris so people can get through. Again, she could have left immediately after doing that. But, she sticks around. She shoots Bane when Batman is at his most vulnerable moment, and she saves his life in the process. She then stays in the fight as she chases down Talia and her henchmen and blasts away two Tumblers. Her last words to Batman before he flies off with the bomb was You could have gone anywhere. But you came back Batman replies So did you. This is a strong affirmation by Batman of her newly developed selfless nature. She had her chance to run when the going got tough. But, she came back and stayed to finish the fight. In the end, she proved herself a hero, saving not only herself, but also Batman, and beyond that, the people of Gotham.

History:
3 points for Pfeiffer (she had more prominence than BatKeaton and a better insane arc although the end with her still alive made to lose much of the good story they have told)
2 points for Hathaway (she has the most coherent and concise story from beginning to end with an authentic development that is not forced, the problem is that she does not have as much prominence as Pfeiffer, who is the true protagonist of batman returns)
1 point for Kravitz (her catwoman doesn't have much development despite being in a great movie she doesn't have an arc)
Suit
3 points for Hathaway (her suit is inspired by the original of the 60s series, that's where the first good catwoman suit came from, in the comics at that time she had a terrible green suit with a cat's head)
2 points for Pfeiffer (a good suit, although very stylish and those white seams, more than transmitting sensuality, it transmits strange as if she were a zombie, but it works)
1 Kravitz point (very cheap and it is understood, she is a still young catwoman who needs more to improve)
combat:
3 points for Hathaway (she is the best fighter, she can fight bane mercenaries, thugs, etc, we see her punching, shooting, dodging, using grapples, throwing kicks and disarming her enemies, look at the bar scene, she totally looks like Selina Kyle and as Catwoman, I also face more difficult opponents, Bane's trained mercenaries)
2 points for Kravitz (she has good action scenes but I don't know about you but my catwoman wouldn't be so easily defeated by an old man with a cane, that's the only thing that makes me drop a point, her action scenes work but being defeated so easily by Falcone does not add up and is contradictory to what was seen previously where he easily knocks out and dodges younger thugs, yet none of his thug opponents reach the level of Bane's mercenaries)
1 point for Pfeiffer(he defeated 2 policemen and 1 thief, then he fought in a contradictory and meaningless way against batman, he went from a submissive secretary to being able to beat up batman? that my friends is meaningless and ridiculous action, we are talking about the action not whether he is a main character or not, let's be fair) batromance
3 points for Hathaway (she has the most faithful romance to the comics and very coherent, functional, Catwoman is a thief but she is not a villain like Joker or Bane, and Batman knows that and that is why he believes that she can change, sometimes leaving disappointed and sometimes winning)
2 points for Pfeiffer (The origin of this is very strange because this Bruce only likes blondes but the development and parallelism works despite not being like in the comics)
1 point for Kravitz (despite having good chemistry with Pattinson, the script doesn't follow that chemistry, their romance is very forced and strange, they started investigating Anika, catwoman's girlfriend and suddenly she loves batman) Performance: This is difficult since each one had a different direction behind it, I feel that in terms of acting the best achieved is Pfeiffer's but in more comical performance it is for Hathaway.
3 points for Pfeiffer
2 points for Hathaway
1 point for Kravitz
Winner?
Kravitz: 6 points
Pfeiffer: 11 points
Hathaway: 13 puntos

Anne Hathaway Blew me away with her performance of Catwoman in the Dark Knight series. I didn't think anyone could play the role of Catwoman to its authenticity in equal to, that of Michelle Pfeiffer in the first movie productions of Batman. But Anne was outstanding and perfect for that role. It is a different generation with a uniquely different talent & aspect of Batman series movies. Just as Jack Nicholson was made to be Joker in that series of time, Heath Ledger was made to be Joker in his, and Penguin was perfectly cast with Danny DeVito, just as the amazing and iconic Michelle Pfeiffer was made for her role as Catwoman, during hers. Anne Hathaway was definitely made for her role as Catwoman in the newly adjusted version of Batman series. Both generations of Batman movies were amazing in their eras and changed with the times, as did their focus. Anne is my absolute favorite Catwoman of the new Batman era of movies, and Michelle Pfeiffer will always be an iconic legendary catwoman for the prior ones. And as for the NEW latest Batman 2022 series, I wouldn't even show my kids (who are age appropriate, but I've showed them both eras, & the NEW one for 2022, is far too disappointing. so, we'll just end it with the Dark knight series of Batman. At least that trilogy and the original of the 90's were entertaining and exceptional to watch)

Oh no. I think Michelle Pfeiffer is the best one and she's the winner of this first one. And I think Anne Hathaway and Kravitz are lost. Well, of course, Anne Hathaway is my favorite Catwoman. But actually after you were narrating about the three Catwoman, Anne Hathaway and I are lost, and even from Kravitz, too. Want to know why? Anne Hathaway is my crush. I consider that Anne Hathaway is my BFF. And from Catwoman, Anne Hathaway is even my BFF. Now, you imagine for that: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I am her sidekick. So whatever Anne Hathaway as Catwoman that she go anywhere, I will always be there for her. And for Batman, too. Imagine that I am a secret agent like James Bond, I am about to wear James Bond's Skyfall agent suit. If you know that why Anne Hathaway as Catwoman is my favorite. Then I refer that Catwoman Anne Hathaway is my favorite second one at your video. Especially you, Anne Hathaway, my darling, you're my favorite one for Catwoman. Now I am your sidekick.

I agree with the whole elaboration on the fight presence, the romance, and the performance categories. backstory I'd actually give to Zoe for being so much closer to the comic books origin and more realistic feeling. I'd give the costume to Pfeiffer-- it's frankly iconic and I still want her Hello There sign. Hathaway's was sleek but beyond the ears thing I know nothing about it is the problem-- blends right in with the shadows and on the cat burglar side of her life that's perfect, at the place where she functions as supervillain/hero it kinda needs to be able to have some branding vibes.
Michelle will be my definitive, but that's also the era I grew up in. I might've been exposed to the TV show versions of Catwoman in passing, but she was the first one to portray her in my time, so everybody following had to live up to that standard.

#1 - Michelle Pfeiffer (puuuurfect)
#2 - Anne Hathaway (puuuurfect & looks puuurfect for her time but did need more spotlight)
#3 - Ms. Kravitz (Why did they CHANGE the Dark Knight Batman series 'already? It's not that many years later? The New Batman series, LOOKS (new costumes & make up) are horrible and literally destroy the series. Zoe is drop dead gorgeous, but the movie did not do her favors on the catwoman image. Plus, why switch out the 2nd generation Batman series cast? they were perfect for this generation of series and still YOUNG and ideal for the series. I hate it when they ruin DC comic movies with sidestep trials of movies. DON'T FIX WHAT'S NOT BROKEN.

So I thought this list was going to be more fair, and maybe it was, but I dont agree with all of it.
For me:
Story: zoe
Costume: pfieffer
Combat: zoe
Bat-romance: pfeiffer
Performance: I think I like Zoe and Michelle the best Anne did a weird accent. Pfeiffers was great but when I rewatched I didnt realize how campy it was zoe seemed like someone i could totally meet in NYC. She reminded me of Julia Foxs interview on Ziwe. Just a hard life that turned someone pure into a bit of a schemer and it seemed the most real. but pfeiffers was the most dramatic and this is acting after all so I give them a tie.

Anne Hathaway is my favourite, I don't care what this host says. One of best Selina moments in any media is the bar scene in The Dark Knight Rises, I could write an essay on that scene alone. It demonstrates Selina's masterful skills - trickery, manipulation, back-up plan, covering her tracks and even fighting skills. The host doesn't even mention it in the Combat Round.
At least she gave her the point for costume, that was a clever design with the cat ears being flipped up version of the goggles. The look was a nice compromise of the Julie Newmar costume and Darwin Cooke's version.

reply

All three brought something to the character and I can respect that. However Pfieffer's Catwoman benefitted from having a Director who is famous for telling the story of tragic weirdos. That, combined with Michelle's incredible skill as an actor is what clinches the win in her favour. Also I have to say I really disagree with the comments about Pfieffer's costume. It is easily the most iconic and fashion forward of the three. The stitching is a distraction - really? What? Get yo eyes checked heheh
reply

Even if Michelle's costume might be distracting at times, it plays perfectly into the tragic story of the character. We see the birth of the catwoman alterego and the costume on the same night and then witness how both slowly break down throughout the rest of the movie. The costume is a physical manifestation of her phsycological breakdown. By the end of the movie, both are unhinged and hanging by loose threads, which is heartbreaking but super interesting to watch.
reply

No, I completely disagree. Anne Hathaway is easily the better story AND romance. Her Selina getting her man proves it. And her suit is absolutely the best blend of functionality and style. Anne Hathaway may not be the best fighter of the three - but her overall performance wins this contest for her. Michelle Pfeiffer's cat-suit is too much of a Halloween cosplay rather than what it needs to be - a combat suit.
reply

Michelle hands down. As for her outfit again, the best. It represents her frayed fragmented mental state. At the same time its visually more intimidating. Her claws are nasty and unprodictable. Her corset pulls it all together and gives it some structure. Her high heeled boots give it that dominatrix vibe. Her bull whip is like her tail. I think it sums up the character perfectly.
reply

Is it just me or none of movie catwomans were that great. Espec if you compare them to ANY good characters. I allw. felt like some better fleshed variants from comics stories, or even from animation (at least 1 animated movie comes to mind, but dont rem. exact title) seemed soo much more interresting complex and cool, than movie versions. What do you think?
reply

I'm really surprised people hate Zoe's mask so much. She isn't Catwoman yet, she's just a cat burglar who wears a leather catsuit because she has to drive a motorbike to and from heists. Most burglars in real life wear ski masks, and the ears are basically incidental folding of the material. I think it's super creative and realistic.
reply

I disagree about the costumes. MPs had many symbolic layers to it. It was made from a garment at the back of her wardrobe so implies she's let loose a hidden part of her personality, the exaggerated stitching implies she's stitched herself back together and more mundanely, it's makes the other costumes look bland.
reply

Michelle Pfeifer was the most incredible catwoman. Without her the movie would've been so bland. Zoe was amazing as well. She was a perfect fit for that rendition. Anne can bury herself in a litter box. She was the worst possible choice to play catwoman.
Why wasn't Hally Barry included?

reply

Ann's Catwoman wasn't tacked on. You Just can't see past a version of catwoman that is really just a batman in a catsuit. I prrrrrrrreee-fuuuuuuurrrrrrr a bit of variety, rather that a chick being butch and throwing around 200 pound men when she is likely less than 100.
reply

Michelle is the GOAT, but Julie Newmar is the best 60s Catwoman, by far (sorry, Eartha fans. Eartha was great, she broke barriers, but Julie was Catwoman. Anne is underrated and did a great classic Selina, while Zoe is the future. Zoe was the purrfect choice.
reply

Michelle stole that movie mind you among other powerhouse actors. something about her performance it was a for me at least it hasn't been matched and not sure it ever will. even though its probably the furthest from the comics she simply made her own.
reply

And Michelle Pfeiffer was pregnant while doing her own stunts! I saw this in the theater when I was 10 - the stitching shows how psychologically she's coming unravalled.
reply

I disagree about the Ski mask, Kravitz isn't Catwoman in The Batman, she's still just Selina Kyle. She doesn't start leaning into The Cat aspect until the end.
reply

All were great, but you can't disrespect Julie Newmar and leave her out. Watch the scenes with her and Batman(Adam West) in the 60s tv show Batman.
reply

pfeiffer was amazing as selina but her catwoman act is cringe, sorry. i know it's how director told her to portray her but it's still criiiinge
reply

I mean Michelles will always be the best Selina. No doubt. Much respect to the other two, as I enjoyed their performances as well.
reply

No question. Pfeiffer. Kravitz & Hathaway were both okay in the role but nothing compared to Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Catwoman.
reply

1) Michelle - Best costume and lines
2) Zoe - Realistic costume and dirty good fighting skills
3) Anne - Good fighting skills

reply

Michelle Preiffer was the best portrayal of Catwoman and Selina Kyle. She shouldve won an Oscar for the role.
reply

Michelle played the entire role. She made me care about a 2nd tier character. Awesome performance 30 years ago.
reply

Michelle Pfeiffer is best Catwoman by miles. second place for Julie Newmar in pop trash serie in 1966.
reply

Michelle Pfeiffer had the right amoral, crazy character for catwoman, and the backstory to explain it.
