The Sound of Music is absolutely correct as number one. It's definitely the closest to what I would want.
I like The Princess Diaries dress and veil, but I don't like how her hair disappears so she looks bald and then the shape of the tiara sticking out of the top of the middle of her head. There's a reason the lover's knot tiara is everyone's favorite real tiara. It's perfectly proportioned and shaped. Mia's hair and tiara combination was so much more beautiful at the ball at the beginning of the movie, and they should have done something like that for the wedding.
I absolutely hate the dress in Crazy Rich Asians. It's just so inconsistent.
I don't like the front of Bella's gown in Twilight. The silhouette and the back is pretty, but the front's weird lines are inconsistent with the clean lines of the rest of the dress and they make her boobs look weird.
Padme's dress is gorgeous, but I've never really liked the veil. It just seems too busy and draws the eye away from Natalie Portman's beautiful face.

I do love Funny Face and nearly all the fashions it sports, but I HATE THAT WEDDING DRESS. It elongates Audrey Hepburn's already long torso so she looks unbalanced. The length chops her legs (one of her most beautiful attributes) off short further accentuating the disproportion. The designs make her arms look skinny and ungraceful--and you have only to see other scenes from the movie to know that too is just plain WRONG.
Whereas, if you want a stunning and iconic wedding dress how about Elizabeth Taylor's magnificent gown in Father of the Bride? Other, and far better choices than these might be the stunning twin waltz-length dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes or Yvette Mimeaux's gorgeous gown in Light in the Piazza.
There have been many stunning dresses that outclass the ones you feature here (not counting The Princess Bride with I adore.

Padma's headgear in the wedding episode there that you showed is reminiscent of what was worn in the 1920s by brides Bennett 1920s 30s buy brides of that period. I'm sorry if their mistakes and spelling is Septra I'm using voice to text and I cannot fix it especially since I often have to fight with voice-to-text to get it to spell things correctly.

I don't think Bella's dress should have even made the list. I absolutely hated it. I recently went wedding dress shopping with my daughter and daughter in law and Bella's was worse than any I saw in the shops we visited. I can't believe with the money they had to spend on a dress and that was what they came up with. YUCK.

I think Steel Magnolias pink dress should have been toward the top. It was delightful and divine. The Funny Face one at the bottom. I don't care about the style it inspired. It was BLAH! I have to say I was hoping that The Sound of Music was at the top. So other than Funny Face, it was close to perfect.

I believe that since it was filmed for the world to see by A MOVIE STUDIO the one she worked for in fact that it could in fact be considered a movie because to release her from her contract to marry the prince that was their requirement so I think GRACE KELLY'S WEDDING DRESS SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

Do you have a video for the UGLIEST wedding dresses on tv? If you haven't, make one, and include The Golden Girls - Dorothy's Wedding.
I read somewhere it was a deliberate malicious act, that some people in production hated Dorothy Zbornak so much, they forced her to wear that monstrosity.

I knew the one black person you showed you had to say something negative about. Yeah the dress is over the top, but I guess that's the only one you could find right. Next time just leave us out. Nothing is better than negative.

I looooove the pink one in the Eddie Murphy movie and the empire dress of number 11
The dress from the Star wars movie is so gorgeous and I love the Jumpsuit dress from the asian wedding too
But the pink one is my favourite

I do not like the Crazy Rich dress, and all I can think about is the fabric absorbing all the water, becoming heavy, cold, water going into shoes and making things slippery while wearing high heels, etc. Just. no.

My favorites are Evangeline's wedding dress, Danielle's from Ever After, Cinderella's in the live action version, Katniss' in Hunger Games, and Maria's in the Sound of Music. These dresses were just breathtaking.
reply

To me, Maria's wedding dress in The Sound of Music has always been the gold standard of wedding dresses. It's absolutely exquisite in its simplicity, but it's still grand and absolutely suits the character.
reply

My favorite wedding dress is the one from the Korean TV series Extraordinary Attorney Woo. It wasn't worn for an actual wedding but the scene with the main character wearing it is still highly emotional.
reply

When this video popped into my feed I thought, Marias dress better be in the mix. Loved it since the first time I saw this movie. Now for the worst dresses. When Harry Met Sally.
reply

Personal favorites
Twilight
Ann Hathaway in bride wars
Carrie Bradshaw in city hall
Sound of music.
So i guess my taste runs to simple elegant satin gowns.

reply

I guess we have different tastes with the one in Star wars you say it was so memorable I don't even remember it, and I saw the movie twice I only like the head peace!
reply

The Harry Potter Wedding Dress by Alexander McQueen was major inspiration. I also want snake wedding rings inspired by Daniel Radcliffe in the movie Horns!
reply

I was hoping they included Cinderellas dress. I fell in love with that dress when I saw the movie. If I ever get married I would want that wedding gown.
reply

I'd've included Clarisse's gown from The Castle of Cagliostro and the dress worn by the daughter in Father of the Bride (the Spencer Tracy version.
reply

The U. K. Dressmaker Thelma Madine recreated the huge pink Tulle dress from the Wedding scene in Coming To America for one of her Gypsy/Traveler clients.
reply

Audrey Hepburn wore her dress. The dress was perfect. It brought out her beauty. The other dresses were distracting. Those dresses wore the brides.
reply

THANK YOU for putting The Sound Of Music first! When I read the title the first thing I pictured was The Sound Of Music. You guys nailed it!
reply

I'm sure you don't want to go back 72 years but Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress she wore in the Original Father of the Bride is stunning.
reply

Hunger games dress should have been number one it literally lights on fire and is used as a symbol of rebellion!
reply

Keira Knightley's dress from Love Actually was utterly STUNNING, and I would have picked that over the one from Pirates
reply

Dakota Johnson (Anatasia Steel) in Fifty Shades Freed is the most beautiful stunning and romantic wedding dress everrrrr
reply

One of my favourite dresses was always Kristen Bells dress in When in Rome. it is simple but so beautiful!
reply

The extremely wide wedding gowns and other style of ladies dress is the reason for the wider halls in older hotels.
reply

Audrey Hepburn made that dress beautiful not the dress, didn't seem like a wedding dress, but she is beautiful!
reply

NO WAY! Julie Andrews' dress in The Sound of Music is my favorite ever I didn't expect it to be N#1 but woo
