My Freshman year in high school (many moons ago in the Fall of 1987) my English teacher Brother Regis (it was an All Boys Catholic School) had our class read a book a week (25 in total for the year. It was THAT class that led to me reading sometimes a book in one day out of necessity because of all my other homework. All the books are/were high school classic, though. Off the top of my head, here are the ones that I remember: The Great Gatsby, The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Old Man & the Sea, 1984, Animal Farm, The Pearl, Ten Little Indians, The Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, A Separate Peace, Across Five Aprils, Johnny Tremaine, The Chocolate War, & so many more. Brother Regis wanted to create reading as a habit & a necessity for future educational pursuits. He truly succeeded at accomplishing both goals for me personally--hahaha.

Definitely going to add some of these to my reading list and cant wait to come back and read the comments for more suggestions. I love books I can finish in an afternoon trip to the beach or the park.
My favorite short book is We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I checked out the audiobook from the library and listened to it while cleaning my apartment. When it was done I immediately ordered it for purchase. It really expanded my understanding of feminism and impacted my outlook on my experiences as a woman. I also enjoyed The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I finally got rid of so many things I really didnt need. I had no idea how much clutter made me anxious.
Oooooo I love Animal Farm! I would like a poetry book list by Ms Mojo if they dont have one yet.

Im reading On The Come Up by Angie Thomas right now about a 16 year old girl trying to make it as a rapper when she doesnt even know if shell have enough food to eat each day. Highly recommend. Another book Ive read recently is called In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park, which is the memoir of a North Korean girl who got out. Its eye opening.

Read tuck everlasting, the little prince, Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, perks of being a wallflower and to kill a mockingbird all in one day. I actually read tuck twice in a day. I finished it and proceeded to read it again. Same with to kill a mockingbird and Hitchhiker's

From this list the best are the little prince and probably Orwell's animal farm.
I would also add the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. You can read every part of the Chronicles of Narnia in one day.
I personally love the Chronicles of Narnia books.

most of the books in this list took me forever to read them in school because i hated being forced to read them. The Little Prince has to be my favorite. It was far easier to watch the movie for The Great Gatsby. The remake is one of my favorite movies.

I don't know about the novel but the play of the Ocean at the End of the Lane is amazing. One of those plays which highlights theatre as a medium. If you can get to see it go.

i've read audiobooks in one day, but as for braille, Novelas, but not full novels. I think I read braille faster hardcopy than electronically.

I had to read The Great Gatsby for English, and that introduced me to more Fitzgerald novels, like Tender Is The Night and The Beautiful and Damned

I hate The Great Gatsby although I shouldnt, I find the ending so infuriating. You can read Catcher in the Rye one day or 1984 as well.

And then there were none by Agatha Christie. You don't want to put it down until you know who the murderer is and how they did it!

When there are thousands of films & TV shows that we can watch at any time, what's the appeal of novels?
