How does Blonde stack up against the real deal side by side? For this list, well be looking at still and moving images taken of the actress while she was still alive and comparing them to clips from the fictional film starring Ana de Armas. Our countdown includes The Seven Year Itch, Niagara, Some Like It Hot, and more! What did YOU think of Blonde?

I haven't seen Blond. but I've been a huge Marilyn fan since 1980. In my opinion, the only person in a movie/film that has ever captured Marilyn's true essence, and actually did look very much like her, was Catherine Hicks in the movie Marilyn The Untold Story - 1980 TV Movie Bio Pic. Catherine was as close as I've ever seen anyone portray Marilyn's true emotional persona. Definitely check it out if you get a chance.

Everyone keeps going on about what a miserable lousy film this was, BUT Ana De Armas performance being so good, no one points out that as a professional actress, she read the script and she knew before she signed on what a disrespectful piece of trash it was. consequently I have lost ALL interest in her and her career, and her performance was lost in the sea of degradation that was put up as entertainment

I will have to watch the bio pic Blonde. I never really knew the story of her anguish/depression for the girl who supposedly had it all and was a national sensation. But I guess too much fame too soon in this time period were not good, plus some of mental hardships of her life, and constant exploitation of her image were becoming too much. I really like her Diamonds video though!

That's really sad, the only reason her career boosted was because creeps wanted to look under her damn skirt.
The first image that comes to mind when I think Monroe is probably her wearing the pink dress or the clips of her in Korea because I've watched both clips waay too much, but atleast I don't have an image of her skirt blowing up when I think Monroe.

Ana did as good a job as one can do trying to portray someone whose looks and life are so iconic that she is unportrayable. It is the same with Elvis. Austin Butler came about as close as he could. None of them have been able to capture the sheer magnetism that exuded from Marilyn and Elvis. T

I am getting sick of MM and the impersonations especially since she was not that interesting to begin with. The worst choice was Michelle Williams who in my opinion is way too ugly to play this beauty. I heard blond was terrible but than why bother let that woman rest in the peace she never had

This film was so incredible in the way that all of the photos were truly brought to life. Ana De Armas was also astounding! Well deserved Oscar nomination for her. Aside from all the liberties that they took with the story (which ultimately is to be blamed on the novel) it was a great film

Its like getting pee wee Herman to play Arnold schwarzeeneger How sad this girl is OK looking but NO Marilyn not even in the same dimension! Marilyn was a unique & one of a kind no one should agree to play Marilyn its an insult & this girl is Cuban & looks nothing like Marilyn
reply

Ana de Armas is lovely but just doesnt hold a candle to Marilyn. Nobody could ever replicate the beauty, charm and magic of Marilyn! Also the accent is distracting. The filmmakers took such care to bring these photos to life while still managing to exploit her legacyso sad.

The people who wrote and narrated this video need a lesson in proper language use, or maybe logic and structure. Phrases like the actress suffered from health problems when she was still alive -and many others here of the same style- are absurd.

Acting was fantastic. The story was atrocious. Either make a movie fiction OR non-fiction. I loathe this FAKE biography/documentary. I know a lot about Marilyn Monroe and I kept thinking that never happened. that never happened.

Blond was so bad I stopped watching. Ana De Armas wasn't as bad but the movie was filled with outright things that never happened. It seemed like it was movie exploitation at its worst and Monroe was the victim. Really bad.

I hated this movie. It was everything Marilyn fought to not be seen as or reduced to. So why do this to her anyway. Brody was great casting though. And all the Daddy talk was never proven, makes her look weak and scumy.

I had this very thing said to me in this life about right arm and told I was the saddest girl in the world. FKN ground hog day. She played a singer named sherie and ms Lea and passed fbi security cearnace
reply

I know they could have done a lot better with the casting. I don't understand the choice to use Ana unless it was purely for the diversity. Unfair to Marilyn and Ana cause it's not a good fit.

Just FYI Joyce Carol Oates book Blonde wasnt intended as a biography, it is a novel that is a fictionalised version on Marilyns life. It isnt based on fact, it takes inspiration from fact.

I think they definitely waste Ana's talent. The movie was horrible. I couldn't even finish it. Ana, it is by far the best one who has impersonated her. She looks, sounds and acts like her.
reply

not really, she resembles nothing of Marylin whatsoever but a blonde colour and a lipstick, the movie is an abomination of true Marylin and can not even remotely capture her essence
reply

I have to watch Blonde, I didnt know Adrien Brody had a part in it, and hes an actor I can confidently sign up to watch in anything, even if hes in it for a brief moment.
reply

In the diamonds are a girls best friend dance, there were a lot of faults in Ana's performance but I can't say much, she's the closest to looking and dancing like Monroe.
reply

Not gonna watch this movie, i love Marilyn too much. The director hates Marilyn and it shows. I wish they'd stop dragging her name through the mud like this crap.
reply

The secret life of Marilyn Monroe is more respectful to here than this movie this one is more traumatic both actors acted really good however as Marilyn
reply

That picture on the subway great was put in infamy by the delicious feeling comment. I think the sweater at the beach makes Marilyn look the most beautiful.
reply

I think Ms. Ana De Armas did an extraordinary job of honoring Ms. Monroe. I agree Ms. De Armas resembles Ms. Monroe best. Blessings to both ladies.
reply

I cant help but think of all the ways someone couldve helped her. I just saw this movie and cant stop thinking about how disturbing it was.
reply

Ana de Armas is strikingly familiar as Marilyn but. the story is horrible. Absolutely horrible and I wish wed leave Marilyn rest in peace.
reply

It's a shame they wasted the actress playing MM in this garbage. It would have been good seeing her in a movie that isn't fiction.
reply

Many have tried but NONE have been successful at capturing Marilyn's energy. It was magnetic - soft & hard at the same time.
reply

After so many years there's still vampires trying to suck whatever they can out of the essence that was Marilyn Monroe.
