I'm so happy that Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron actually made it to the honorable mentions list!
I admit though I got worried for a moment that it wouldn't make it or else I would have complained! Lol
Though in my opinion it should have gotten number one for it is my favorite DreamWorks movie of all time! EEP! :)
Fun fact, I actually knew All Star as a little kid in the 90's way before the first Shrek movie even came out.
I have all kinds of memories of listening to that song and loving that song so much from my parents' own Smash Mouth album that had the song and on the radio in the car or at home.
So when I saw Shrek in theaters when I was seven in 2000 with my Girl Scout troop for the first time and that song played as an opening number for Shrek I got so excited to see it involved in the movie.
Now when I listen to it I always think about Shrek but I still also have those fond memories of it before Shrek came along so it's fun to tell people whom mainly remember it from Shrek that I actually knew it before Shrek so well! XD

Top 3 (In my opinion):
1. Shrek
2. Kung Fu Panda
3. How to train you Dragon
There's no doubt the Shrek franchise has the best soundtracks in Dreamworks with their famous songs we all know and love. It was a tough choice for the remaining spots between Kung Fu Panda, how to train your Dragon, flushed away and Madagascar with interesting music from different countries and songs from artists into their soundtracks, but in the end, it was Kung Fu Panda and How to train your Dragon because they sounded more incredible than the others and it was something different.

While Im glad Spirit was at least somewhat on the list, it DOES NOT belong in the mentions! For the past twenty years, ever since I saw that film in theaters at the age of only ten, that films soundtrack has NEVER FAILED to give me the chills or bring both sad AND happy tears to my eyes nor make me feel like Im soaring with the eagle above the mountains in the beginning. This film, and apparently the soundtrack too, are just so criminally underrated it makes me want to scream!

In all honesty, I thought The Prince of Egypt was going to be number one considering the songs were written by Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz and composed by Academy Award winner and Hollywood Walk of Fame star winner Hans Zimmer. Plus the song When You Believe won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and has been rerecorded by numerous artists and bands (which is actually how I was introduced to the song AND the film in the first place) throughout the years

Kung Fu Panda Franchise and Turbo and Shark Tale and The Road To El Dorado and How To Train Your Dragon Franchise and Madagascar Franchise and Trolls Franchise and Flushed Away and The Prince of Egypt and Spirit Stallion Of The Cimarron and Megamind and Sinbad Legend Of The Seven Seas and Boss Baby Franchise and Shrek Franchise had the best soundtrack on the DVDs or on TV or on Netflix or on Hulu

The Prince of Egypt and The Road to El Dorado those films what I watched and enjoyed when I was young. Those had amazing songs I liked Heavens Eyes from the Prince of Egypt, The Trail We Blaze It's Tough to be a God and Somewhere out of the Blue from The Road to El Dorado. Also I'm a Believer from Shrek 1 and Livin la vida loca from Shrek 2.

I would add Joseph King of Dreams as one of DreamWorks's memorable soundtracks too. Sure, it's not memorable as Hans Zimmer's score in Prince of Egypt, but it is a beautiful score on it's own. It does capture the religious spirit and heart of the story in a very intimate way.

You are out of your fckin mind for not including Over the Hedge soundtrack in this list, or at least a mention. That Ben Folds soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks Ive ever seen in a movie, and you cant deny that, so tell me (WHERE IS IT)
reply

weird for shrek and all of them especially trolls or even madagascar all of they're soundtracks are just down right weirded out but firework from most wanted insanely catchy absolute fav including can't stop the feeling very catchy as well
reply

I am offended that Madagascar is higher than HTTYD AND El Dorodo. Good, yes. Better? No
And I love shrek, but it cant be #1 every time just because it was one of the first and one of the best. Key word, ONE
But honestly, good list

reply

Personally for me Shrek 2 of course is number because and Holding out for a hero and also Accidentally in love. But for me the potion factory escape scene I could hundreds of times over. The song makes the mood of the edge of your seat.
reply

to be fair, this list is not doing justice to HTTYD, the soundtrack is amazing and emotional, I would put it at least at third place, if it wasn't my favourite movie franchise making me want it to stand it on first place
reply

I remember learning somewhere years ago that All Star was only meant to be temporary, but the Shrek creators grew to like it so much that they kept it in and asked Smash Mouth to perform Im a Believer for the ending.
reply

Sooo many amazing 90s songs can be amazing for Disney animated, fantasy movies and even more, that's why I love the 90s a lot, definitely when it comes to European 90s songs as well, they can help movies ratings
reply

It seems that this ranking is biased for soundtracks with vocal singing and not meaningful and emotional orchestral music. Which is a shame. Orchestras make you feel, songs tell you what to feel.
reply

If i were you, I would vote Madagascar to be the top song, I just love the classic 4 african animals and the fun loving lemurs, with their ring-tailed lemur king, King Julien. along with the penguins.
reply

Favorites: Shrek, how to train your dragons, Kung Fu panda, the prince of Egypt, turbo, road to El dorado, spirit, Sinbad legend of the seven seas, chicken run, flushed away & wallice and gromit.
reply

Personally, I think Spirit should've had a place on the list instead of being honorable mentioned. I go back to the soundtrack time and time again. It holds a very special place in my heart
reply

between animated and real life in the movie from Trolls Justin Temberlake sangs Can't stop the feeling and he sang again in the movie voiced as Branch with Anna Kendrick voiced as Poppy
reply

I don't care what people think about any of the Shrek movies withier people say their bad or not I think everyone can agree on is that all the movies have a phenomenal soundtrack.
reply

9: 11 or as I call it Country Blackface cause its performed by a POP ARTIST NOT A COUNTRY ARTIST. Trolls two need a serious beating for not getting some of the genres right
reply

me thinking in my head here why is shrek above the prince of eqypt no no switch places! also i wish most of the honorable mentions were on the list excluding boss baby.
reply

How to Teain Your Dragon's soundtrack should have been higher on the list and only mentioning Spirit is a crime it should have been number one. Shrek is overrated.
reply

Btw, Kung Fu Fighting actually demonstrates that Po is the most heroic Dreamworks hero right next to Nickelodeons Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender
reply

Is no one going to talk about how they picked Flushed Away over Chicken Run?
Chicken Run's soundtrack is incredible. Kazoo's have never sounded so epic.

reply

I know it's not dreamworks, but Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs has one heck of a soundtrack.
My favorite movie soundtrack of all time

reply

reply

A little annoyed how Over the hedge didnt even get mentioned and all spirit got was an honorable mention. I love those movies and their sound track.
reply

Oogway Ascends was my personal favorite. And oh yeah you have so many cool songs in Flushed away and Shark Tale. oh my god i love those movies
reply

The fact that Shrek, Prince of Egypt, Spirit, Road to El Dorado and How to Train Your Dragon are not the top 5 (not in order) is a crime!
