The memory tree is probably inspired by the Brothers Grimm Cinderella version because in this tale, Cinderella is planting a tree on the mother's grave and she's asking the tree for a dress (for the ball, and there is no fairy godmother, but a bird on the tree brings her the dress, and the Cinderella dress transformation in the movie is happening at the restored memory tree in Andalasia.

I love Enchanted and I love musicals, but this movie was a disappointment. The constant Disney references couldn't save it from a weak script and forgettable songs. Most of the enjoyment came from Giselle's transformation into a wicked stepmother. Gabriella also did a great job as Morgan, and I was happy to see Idina Menzel sing.

So like, maybe they should have started with the live action morphing into the animated world without looking like live action. The whole appeal of the first movie was them being animated but then becoming live action. But then you'd only have the voices of the actors if they did it in reverse as animation.

What I really loved from the Disenchanted movie was the fact that the soundtrack really made you feel that you were in a fairy tale. Also, the beautiful moral of the movie which was that even though a woman didn't give you birth, if she raised you, she is your mom. I loved it.

The most beautiful callback is right at the end when Robert and Giselle look at each other and start to dance to the ending song, it's exactly the same dance they do at the ball in Enchanted. Loved how far they've come and what a sweet relationship those two have

I'm so impressed that no matter how evil Giselle got, she NEVER faltered from using manners. Even when squaring up against Malvina, she says Oh yes. Please.
Like. that's just so amazingly funny to me that good Giselle made sure Stepmother used her manners XD

weird out completely which ones are better my opinion the original but it's so disoriented amy adams looks and the rest of the ladies in it all look like they all gained some weight totally different in yet patrick dempsey looks better younger now not so much

I remember watching Enchanted in 6th grade for a field trip. My home room teacher has since passed away so hearing that Disenchanted was on Disney+, it felt like my teacher who also had a good impact for many other students was still around

Wish we got to see Giselles fashion business, Andalasia Fashions. Maybe we didnt see it bc shes on maternity leave?
Overall, it was enjoyable to simply see everyone reprise their roles (with the exception of the OG Morgan)

Good, not great sequel. I'd give it a 3. 5/5 stars. There were a lot of wasted opportunities with characters and some issues with the storytelling, but if you loved the first movie, you'll find enough to enjoy in this one.

MY FAVORITES:
New York's Animal Population
Giselle's Treehouse
Having a Ball
Slaying a Dragon
Sporadic Musical Numbers
Down the Wishing Well
Morgan's Memory Tree

Not only they gave Idina Menzel a singing number, they had to reference Frozen with that Let it grow, let it glow bit. Took me a second to realize she wasn't actually saying let it go
reply

This movie had to many songs! Feels like they were singing in every scene. That sort of made me loose patience with it. The first Enchanted did not have that many songs.
reply

Oh god, the bit where Giselle realizes that she's turning into a wicked Step-Mother was faking hilarious. Also, Love Power let Idena Menzel SLAY IT AS USUAL!
reply

I have to say, while I'm not sure that Disenchanted is better than the OG Enchanted, it was more than a worthy sequel. Just a shame it wasn't released in theaters.

I also enjoyed how the consumed in monroe-lasia were like other Disney characters. Morgan had Cinderella's peasant dress and Malvina's son it's dressed like Gaston

HELL YES!
Disenchanteda my legit favorite follow up since the first movie, and Amy Adamss voice really improved over 15 years. Ohh man, I feel so so old!

reply

The greatest costar of this movie is the NYC. to move them to the boring suburbs was a critical mistakewatching old people out in the sticks is not magical.
reply

Watch that scene from the first movie when Giselle explains to Morgan that not all stepmother are bad. Foreshadowed this movie.
Edit: Hehe, obviously.

ALSO I caught Giselle describing Robert as dreamy which I think is a reference to his role as Derek Shepherd / McDreamy in Grey's Anatomy
reply

The dragon sculpture at the staircase is the same dragon sculpture at grand staircase in the live action beauty and the beast 2017.
reply

Probably a bit unrelated, but I'm very glad that Amy Adams has a more realistic figure in Disenchanted than she did in Enchanted.
reply

I just saw Enchanted and Disenchanted for the 1st time this weekend. I thought Enchanted was annoying but I enjoyed Disenchanted
reply

I couldn't watch the whole thing. I adore Enchanted so I rewatched it before turning on Disenchanted. HUGE disappointment.
reply

There are even ones in the first movie itself-edward catching giselle when she falls and then robert catching her.
reply

In my opinion, Perfect is the best I want song Disney has made since How Far I'll go. Gabriella did an amazing job!
reply

Enchanted is a masterpiece, but Disenchanted was still a fun time. I wish there was much more of the boys though.
reply

The villain song with the two villains was amazing I watch the movie three times already just for that song. Great job
reply

They forgot to mention that the dance in the end of Disenchanted has the exact same steps form the dance in Enchanted
