Finn was totally wrong to out Santana, but Santana actually made him, when she callously insulted his weight. Tact is extremely important. If you don't have it, you can push someone to that point. I know, when l taught my boss a lesson on why tactlessness and condescension is wrong. She once questioned me for putting black linens on the tables for the wedding reception instead of white, the correct/usual color (but in my defense, we usually put on black linens for any event, and I don't even generally set the reception linens. Oh, and she was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. I'll admit, I am much better with a helping hand and guide, but come on, that's no excuse for being insensitive. One of our student leader's responsibilities is organizing who works which shifts on the schedule, and my boss scolded him for not noticing I had signed up for a one-person shift. When she asked him if she thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm yes, because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen (something like, that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her, and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. I regretfully didn't stand up for myself because I was too intimidated
But feeling resentfully brave and determined _this_ time, I decided to do what she did to me back to her. My college's disability services was hosting a program to educate and prepare disabled high schoolers who were considering enrolling here. We caterers were serving the food, and every time I saw my boss talking to a high schooler (who wasn't physically disabled, I would immediately go over there and either a. tell my boss she's needed somewhere or there's been a situation, or b, offer _my_ help to the kid. My boss eventually concluded that I was deliberately trying to keep her away from the disabled students, and she insisted I tell her what was going on. I acted like I had no choice and admitted I was trying to prevent her from potentially saying anything offensive to the learning-disabled kids. I acted like I was trying to protect them because I wasn't sure she would be 100% respectful; that I worried she might say something condescending, even if unintentionally. When she expressed her offense at such a judgmental, faithless perspective, I reminded her what she said about me when I signed up for the said one-person shift, and how _that_ was a motive to prevent anything similar happening to the other disabled learners.

They handled Marley's eating disorder horribly. They punish her for it, like when she fainted at sectionals because she hadnt eaten anything. Tina blamed Marley for episodes (weeks, I guess) because her fainting cost them the competition, instead of being worried about her friend's wellbeing. Santana exposed Kitty for what she had been doing and no one batted an eye. When she told Quinn during the episode where some of the OG characters came back to WMH, Quinn basically shrugged her off and said shes not that bad. Like, Shue didnt try to do anything to give Kitty consequences for actions. Honestly, no one who deserved consequences got it in the show. And Shue suspending Marley from New Directions because she didnt want to wear a bikini in school is appalling. During the Rocky Horror episode in season 2, Sam was basically wearing a Speedo and when he told Shue that he wasnt comfortable, or when Finn said that he wasnt comfortable stripped down to his underwear for a scene, neither of them got suspended for it. Just Marley.

This was a TV show that was a musical / comedy /drama put out on a weekly bases and if you know the goings on they worked 12 to 16 hr a day as was. Not a documentary that had all kinds of time to examine the issues and produce a well balance show on the problems. It did what it had to, shine the light on a subject and let others take up the subject who could go more in-depth. ok after reading much more Mojo write ups I have learned that there just high priced trolls. All they do is try to make any thing done by others who do things into crap and shit on them. Mojo should look after there own shit and and leave those that do, do, alone! If you where not such asses all those complaints you have you could spend your time on here and do in-depth talks about what you say Glee or any others you pick on did not cover properly!

How about bullying? While they occasionally had one or two good moments dealing with bullying, as a whole any bullying moments in the show is usually treated for laughs and no big deal. Santana is worse for being a bully yet never really faces any real backlash from her bullying or consequences past a brief apology that's usually forgotten by the next episode. In fact the only reason Finn outed her was because she was just constantly, insistently harassing him in a really vile way that would have made many other people stop going to school in order to avoid it. (Not excusing his outing her by the way, just noting that the bullying in the show was never really treated like a serious issue that could effect kids long after they leave school)

After watching this video. OMG! I admit that Glee had a great importance in my adolescence, about learning and accepting the LGBT community, of which I would later become a part. But I stopped watching the series, after the third season ended. After looking at this selection of moments, I realized many situations whiche were treated very superficially or given a connotation that would be impossible to replicate today. The worst thing is that even having stopped watching Glee, I see that these practices continued to happen and nobody said anything. It's undeniable that we must learn from our history to prevent us to repeat over and over. But it's sad to realize that Glee was not the full bravery example of a good teen LGBT show.

7: 19 tbh as a trans man myself theres sometimes this pipeline of like not caring abt gender to oh everyone says im a girl but anyone who says otherwise feels like kind of a threat for reasons i dont wanna explore yet, and to combat this im gonna be hyper feminine/upset when anyone points out my more masculine traits to oh zamn umm maybe? to acceptance so coach beast being defensive of being a woman is actually kinda realistic. obviously i would never expect a ny cis person to get it since it can be such a personal thing, but a lot of my trans friends have had this feeling, ive had this feeling and honestly im happy to see it in coach beast!

Sometimes, I feel like the writers for Ms. MOJO don't really put effort into researching. Let me tell you, as a former teen mom, I didn't miss a day of school until I went into labor. Also if you had done any reading about pregnancy would would know that women who are physically active before and during pregnancy are usually able to maintain that activity. Example fitness influencer Abby Pollock was still going to the gym almost every day during her pregnancy. A healthy pregnancy even in your terns doesn't complete immobilize you.

Santana's outing was so painful to watch, speciallysince she was right. It wasn't just the school finding out, it was the whole town.
She was forced to come out to her parents and grandma.
Also I found really hypocritical how Will let Finn out of the hook when he beat up Puck after finding out he was the baby's father and did absolutely nothing to protect Kurt when Karofsky was harassing him but the moment Santana slapped Fin for outing her then he wants to take action and took her to the principal's office.

Turning coach Beiste into a trans man was the worst. God forbid a woman has a masculine body and likes sport, if she does, she's probably a man. At the beginning she was written as this super delicate, vulnerable and very girly character and it was just her appearance that made people think she was manly. And then they decided to do a 180 and turn her into an actual man. Disgusting and offensive, both to women who don't fit the typical feminine standards and to trans men.

the biphobia throughout the entire show (particularly from Kurt, Santana and Dani) was actually SO disappointing, especially for a show that claimed to be so inclusive of lgbtq+ people! it was clear the writers were just biphobic in general and took it out on characters who realistically would never be biphobic (like really, kurt? the character who was always talking about being yourself and accepting others? that was SO out of character for him)

#3 easily made me hate Kurt not because hes gay, but rather because hes insulting a group from the community hes a part of. Same goes for what Santana said to Dani about how shes glad she didnt have to fight over men with her like with Brittany. #6 was a mixed moment for me because it was bad enough that Santana would constantly make Finn feel insecure about his body image, but it didnt mean I liked that he outed her. They were both in the wrong.

Schue never told Marley to wear a revealing outfit he just told her to dress like Gaga, who has plenty of costumes that arent skimpy or revealing in the slightest and plus I think she did that out of her own personal grudge against Jake at the time as well which made her come off as throwing the challenge to get back at someone.
Personally, sorta unrelated, but I never liked Marley as a character either TBH.

You're wrong on the Beiste bit. Sometimes trans people will double-down on trying to represent their assigned gender before they realize they're trans, because all they want is to fit in and repress that feeling inside themselves that something is wrong. I didn't realize I was trans until I hit 30, and spent most of my life trying to be as girly as possible to blend in and hide the fact my body felt wrong.

I was so upset about the whole trans Shannon thing because I loved how she was the way she was and still wanted to be treat like a lady. It was actually so powerful and the whole transman Shannon was out of nowhere, it didn't fit with her whole background story!
There was a lot I was upset about it when it comes to Glee though XD Still enjoyed it when I watched it for what it was: )

Okay seriously how can the eating disorder thing be worse than Ryders ordeal? Is it the I wanted you to think you were fat so I messed with your clothes thing? Yes what she did was fcked up but the fact an innocent child being abused by his babysitter is WAY worse than a nasty plot by some nasty girl to mess with her classmate. think you mixed the order up at the end there MsMojo

The biggest problem with Glee is that nothing really means anything. Nothing has any lasting impact. No matter how hard they try to talk about serious topics it will never carry any real weight because we know it will only last an episode. Stories are moved on from quickly and never addressed again so there are never any consequences for anyone or anything.

I think you can make another list like this and other about this show.
I know this is not on the topic of the video but the episode where the glee club laughed at Kurt saying he wants the manly role in a song. then when Rachel tried to help him with role on staged she laughed at him trying to act like a typical manly man in front of everyone.

Shelby and Puck's relationship (grooming) is a huge representation of societies views on men vs women. It's a disgusting example of how society continues to perpetuates that boys/men cannot be taken advantage of while women/girls cannot be predators and only need to be protected and stopped from being placed in danger.

I never understood the drama around Santana coming out. She openly and proudly flirted with Brittney all of season 1 - that was basically her whole character back then. Even when she was with guys she was making out with Brittany in front of them. So why is she ashamed all of a sudden?

I was seriously offended by the Marley thing. Kitty supported her eating disorder and was never punished for it. She fainted on stage during sectionals and instead of being concerned they were all mean to her and blamed her for losing. It was so unfair. How about a little compassion?

Also, Sugar was a VERY problematic character. She and her self-diagnosed Aspergers was very insulting to the autistic community. She would attribute all of her behaviors to her aspergers, and basically stereotype autism as a bunch of bad traits. This doesnt get talked about enough.

I remember loving the show for having such a wide arrangement of issues and stuff, but I forgot how poorly they actually executed those. Like some of them could have turned into heartbreakingly beautiful moments if they were resolved or supported later or properly. _.

Not saying Santana deserved to be outed because no one deserves that, but I dont know why she expected that she could keep being the way she was to people and not get some kind of retaliation. What Finn did was worse, but she could have avoided it.
