For my entire life, ever since I first picked up The Cat in the Hat, I wanted to write a book of my own. It seemed like a far-fetched dream for so long, but as I began formulating stories and writing them down, i realized I had a book on my hands. Now, after years of hard work, and listening to some of these songs on repeat, I am now successfully a published author. I am the first in my family to accomplish the feat, and my parents have never been prouder. Never lose sight of your dreams, people! Motivate yourself and you can accomplish anything!

Let it go is such fake empowerment. Like yes isolating yourself from your loved ones and saying you dont care about the kingdom thats YOUR RESPONSIBILITY is such a great message! What else can I do did a similar theme but better. Isabela is still expanding her powers and discovering herself but instead of running away and leaving her sister to deal with her stuff shes bonding with and understanding her. Both girls are supporting eachother and finally reconciling. Literally any song on this list has more actual meaningful empowerment than let it go

Do The Next Right Thing, from Frozen II. You might not get it unless youve also struggled with depression and suicide, but that song teleports you right back to your lowest most helpless moments and says its ok to struggle, youve got this and heres how, and does so using a phrase from actual therapists. It is utterly gutting. But empowerment isnt for when youre feeling strong, it is when you are weakest and about to give in, permanently. Ive never listened to it without crying.
And thats why it should have been #1 on this list.

Am multilingual and I love the Italian version of Touch the Sky. This is actually my first time hearing the English. The biggest problem with this song is that it is like only a minute long.
Moana's Know Who You Are hits right in my heart, moreso than I am Moana. (but again, only a minute long. ) It feels like I am singing to my lost self.
Make a man out of you makes me feel like Rocky.
I think I newd to make this a playlist.

I remember during my freshman year of college. There was a huge hill up to the freshman male dorm that I always struggled climbing on my Bike. Then one evening while listening to Go the Distance on my iPod. I finally was able to make the climb and I never struggled with it after that time.

I have to disagree with I'll Make a Man Out of You. Every time I hear this song it doesn't empower me, it just wants to make me laugh. How can I make a man out ofg you? Well, first you need to take several years of medical school.

I would have liked this list more if I was younger. I grew up with the honorable mentions but I havent seen a lot of the movies that made the list because my kids dont like them (or me) enough to watch them a lot with me!

Is it just me or anybody else find 'Let it go' a sort of a potty training song, if taken out of context.
Don't get me wrong, love this song, I just let my intrusive thoughts just 'Let it go' in this comment section.

Sorry bit I will never get, how running away from your problems and sing a song about it (and basically become the evil queen who puts the whole kingdom into an endless winter) is an empowering move in frozen.

My favorite songs on this list are What Else Can I Do, Almost There, Just Around The Riverbend, Go The Distance &Ill Make A Man Out Of You
Honorable Mention goes to: Speechless from Live Action Aladdin

reply

Almost There was one of two songs that kept me going during the last year of my dissertation. The other was Josh Grobans Brave. Both always gave me the pick me up I needed.
reply

I think Speechless by Naomi Scott should have been on there. It is such an empowering song for young girls or women to have their voice heard and breaking free of captivity.
reply

Almost There is my favorite on this list. It's got a catchy rhythm, is hopeful while being grounded in reality, and the visuals and Tiana's voice are both beautiful.
reply

If you're able to find more empowering songs, (given that the honorable mentions list should have been on this video, will definitely be hoping for an eventual part 2 please

I'm still Here from Treasure Planet
Loyal, Brave and True from Mulan
Little Wonders from Meet the Robinsons

The live-action Hercules remake really needs a scene where Hercules actually says, Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus.
reply

Once Wish releases into theaters, Princess Ashas own song will definitely rival that of these past classic Disney songs!
