Hold on! Are you sure that's vegetarian? Maybe you should read the ingredients label the next time you go grocery shopping because what were about to tell you may surprise you! Did you know that there could be animal by-products hiding in your bread, white sugar, salted peanuts, cake mix and even bananas?

The FDA in the States, as well as any government food organisation, should require foods to be labelled Vegetarian or Vegan, no different than requiring the listing of allergens or if something is Kosher/Halal for religious reasons. I read the labels constantly, but worry when I see enzymes or Natural flavourings because those are too vague, plus recipes can change.

There's a difference between vegetarians and vegans.
Lanolin is not a product for which sheep get killed. For that reason, it's not a problem for vegetarians to use it. For vegans it is, but this video is about vegetarians. It shouldn't be in the list.

reply

Both animals and plants have LIFE. Both vegetarians and carnivores need to KILL plants and/or animals to live, respectively. To say otherwise is utterly hypocritical, if not downright absurd. Sorry, but omnivores are great.
reply

try food of indian origin, as indian population 70% are vegetarians. products are more thoroughly scanned for these products and get a green dot in a box if vegetarian and red if non vegetarian.
reply

ok we like ice cream and gross if it's make from Beavers what ever but your eating it to and ratting meat isn't really good for u, and it's really sad that you turn insolent animals in to shit
reply

I dont know if I should trust the food industry anymore. I dont want to eat anything anymore, but then I would starve to death eventually, so Ill just find more vegetarian versions instead
reply

Lions, tigers, sharks, and a lot more animals eat other animals for survival, humans are animals themselves, therefore there's no true reason why we should stop eating meat.
reply

I had put the beaver secretions out of my mind long enough to binge on vanilla ice cream this weekend. I'm not vegetarian but I didn't want to think about it just yet.
reply

DHA is not necessarily fish oil so Omega-3 can be found elsewhere besides fish oil. If you're vegan and need omega-3, you have to get DHA tablets which ARE vegan.
reply

lol love how you didn't say fig. A lot of natural organic figs bear fruit with an insect called the fig wasp inside the flesh of the fruit. Certainly not vegan.
reply

Omega-3 in some brands of orange juice that contains fish oil? Some sort of shellfish-based spray on processed bananas?
I hate having a seafood allergy.

reply

well, I don't really care about anything else on this list but the shellfish/banana thing is scary. I have some friends with serious shellfish allergies
reply

Organic doesn't mean no animal bi-products. Organic bananas can still have the shellfish coating since it would be natural.
reply

Vegetarians can eat butter, gelatin and other animal-bi products. They can just not eat meat. Vegans can't eat animal-bi products.
reply

Not all vegetarians eat only plants and drink milk you know, som still eat fish, poultry and pork because they are white meats
reply

It just amazes how they use these gross and unexpected ingredients in food. It makes me want to just bake my own damn bread.
reply

parmeggiano regiano (parmezan cheese) is not vegetarian. so are some other matured cheeses, fortunately not all of them.
reply

Wow, it must be such a fun life constantly having to worry about what you eat and spending all your time reading labels.
reply

Wait did the title just tell me that some meatless foods still have meat in them? Time to go and rethink what I eat now
reply

do y'all think vegetarians are dumb enough to buy this? there is a 'suitable for vegetarians' logo for a reason lmao
