Having watched this movie again it is wildly inconsistent. Characters just know each other without any introduction. Several times you find yourself sitting there thinking did I miss a scene? The guy gets detention for performing a musical she flashes a teacher and nothing happens to her. One character really has no motive for the actions he keeps taking. And the dad who claims to be a doctor has no issue with sending his daughter to a liberal arts college. His big issue is the distance she will be from him.

I hope everyone realizes that most of this film took place in Tacoma, Washington and not Seattle. Sure, Lake Union and Gasworks Park are Seattle. But my high school, Stadium (class of 1961) was where most of the scenes were filmed. Including 'Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You' in historic Stadium Bowl. The family's house was in the north end of Tacoma. one of the many huge old homes there. Great movie. great fun!

As far as adapting shakespeare in a DIFFERENT way goes, this adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew as a Teenagomedy is only beaton by adapting The Tempest in a SF classic (Forbiden Planet)!
There is a reason most of the kids in this great film, made a real career after it. They were good actors, not just good teenage-actors.

Has anyone noticed how Heath has a type of smile where his dimples weirdly turn up so it looks like he has swirly smile I guess Im not sure how to describe it but when you see his grin and the joker you can just automatically tell its Heath he has such an iconic smile to me

The best moment is Kat's poem.
Even though she was duped by both Joey and Patrick, deep down she can't help but show her repressed feelings for him. It's also a beautiful moment when you find out that Julia Stiles got all emotional and cried real tears during filming.

Why everyone talk about Heath? Yeah I know he is really nice actor and I really like him too. He is dead R. I. P. But noon talk about Julia Styles. She is really nice and beautiful too. The film wasn't very good if Julia Styles and Heath weren't acted in it.
