The highly controversial HBO show, Girls has finally come to an end, but that doesnt mean were over it just yet! There were definitely moments we loved and hated about the show. In this countdown we cover how we hated Jessas decline, love that Ray finally found love with the most unexpected partner, loved that Elijah found success after so many years of disappointment and more!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Girls. It reminded me of my time when living in NY as an acting student. This is exactly how I experienced people in NY. But. I thought the ending was more than meh. Feels like it was pure fishing for a quick finale. Just think of Adam - the most evolved and matured character in the series, offers helping raise Hannahs' child, not even HIS, and boom he's never to be seen again! As much as I watch their scene at the diner and as much as I recall people say H + A both realized it wouldn't work between them. I really don't get it LOL Jessa seemed having lost herself completely and Ray probably had the best ending. Soshanna, I always loved her quirkiness, and she had a great ending, too. She grew and matured and was finally taken serious. Hannah? Well, my hubby and I often looked at each other when she had her many five seconds of total liberal airheadedness. And she kept that up until the very end.

I liked what this show attempted to do, but I watched the whole thing and I always had more issues with it than not. I know that these characters are more or less written to be complicated and at time unlikeable, but then people say that they see themselves in the four girls or that this is the quintessential show about millennials and I just don't see it. I don't see any of this as relatable and it feels like the show's mission statement at times was to show how awful millennials were (bleak futures, narcissists, immature, etc. It was like watching a show that just wanted to shit on its audience by shitting on its characters. (This isn't to say that there weren't episodes I liked or even loved at times, I'm making a broad statement here)

Theres a difference between a season finale and a series finale. The ending for this show felt like a season finale and not a proper ending. I know lena wanted to leave things open ended and she doesnt have to do things the expected way but the way she went about it made me feel like i wasted my time watching this. Its kinda like when your favorite show gets canceled after 3 season what was the point of me investing my time. Adam and Hannah dont have to be together the girls dont have to be friends but at least let us know whats going on with them espically after a 5 month time skip. Ive never seen a series finale with only 2 out of the 7 main characters on the show

I will say, I'm very into the traditional Will They/Wont They couples getting together in the end, and I kind of wish that happened between Hannah and Adam, but I think it was the good thing for both of the characters to keep them apart. The only thing I didn't like is, I wish that Adam hadn't ended up with Jessa. Adam and Jessa are both the type of person who need to be fixed, and since they both need to be fixed, they can't fix each other. I think Adam needs to be alone for a while and find what he really wants, and so does Jessa. They are a really bad couple in my opinion. They are very toxic, just like Adam and Hannah were.

The point I think people are missing is that Hannah was kind of our introduction to Girls. Our introduction to that group. We really traveled with her along the ride of the show and got to develop relationships with the other characters. So I think its only fitting personally that it end with her. Its showing how through all the events that took place, of-course they all changed but primarily how much Hannah changed and even we as viewers changed with her. Its about character development and maturing. Thats why I believed they focused on her.

As far as relationships go I was happy for Ray and Shoshana! BUT I HATED that after all that shit. all that suffering that Hannah and Adam didn't end up together, cliche or not. and that he wasn't even in the season finale. and that almost none of the girls were. I'm fine with them not making up but there was no closure in these characters and it was incredibly depressing to see it all fade away into what was mostly a bleak and unfulfilling ending.

I hate that they had Adam randomly went to Hanna when him and Jessa where obviously meant to be. I mean they had issues but they where so similar and from season 2 I wanted them to get together. Also Hanna told Adam she doesn't want to be with him but got so pissed that she lost a friendship for a season! I ended up hating Hanna because she is the most selfish person ever! It just did not make any sense for Adam to do that, I think the writer messed up: /

I didn't see Marnie as being Selfish in the season finale. She pushed her ego aside to help her best friend. I think a great example of this is when she is taking pictures of herself in the bathroom and forgoes the Jazz event. She even says, IT's not my time to be happy. I loved this finale because of the original Marnie Hannah Dynamic and how each of them ends of being the opposite of what they started as.

Have to, and disagreed with being glad that Adam and Hannah didn't end up together because I've loved them together and because it bothered me so much I've made it up in my head that they got back together after all. I want them to make a movie if life ever goes back to how it used to but if they didn't put Hannah and Adam back together I would I hate that so I'm just going to pretend

Even though season 6 ended didn't 'make sense' it does's in a way. We meet people who arn't suppose to be in our lives. we don't always get to see what happens to others, and we don't always stay friends with people we have known forever or for 5 years. That's how life is. we don't always get a happy ending.

Well, I will always be grateful to the show for casting Adam Driver because he did a great job. I had seen him in a few things and i was like meh, then i saw Girls and fell for him lol I identified with each girl in different ways but it was bleak, I was depressed by the end. And turning 40 lol

I really appreciated this show because it was insightful to see Millennials form friendships and struggle with their identity, which was realistic. Some of the characters could be annoying, however, I enjoyed the satire and quirkiness of this show. Watched it twice and loved it

Ive just finished all series in one week and really enjoyed even the ending. made me think about all the people that cross my life, those I lost touch, left a mark or a wound. I guess what I want to say. made me look at myself even though i was trying to escape from my reality.

Completely misunderstood Jessa's story arc, wow. She got probably one of the best endings. She realized she is NOT that person anymore and she gets her happily ever after with Adam. I hated her, and her with Adam together, but she had a lot of growth.
reply

Marnie didn't stay selfish. She and Hanna's mom are the one that took care of Grover for a while until Hanna came back. And yeah she stayed at Hanna's house without paying her, but she took care of Hanna's baby all the time.
reply

People who wanted Hannah and Adam to end up together have not understood what this show is about.
Also, they were completely toxic and horrible for each other. So why would you want them together either way?

reply

I ABSOLUTELY HATED Adam & Jessa together! I know he and Hannah couldnt stay together but JESSA? Hell NO!
He gave her the $$ for school and she freaking quit!
She was just using him

reply

Elijah had the best ending.
They screwed Shoshanna's character and barely gave her any screen time.
I do like that some of the girls grew out of their childish selfish friendship.

reply

The only thing I loved about the finale is that this god forsaken show finally ended. Though, I do love Adam Driver and it was really the only reason I watched as much as I did.
reply

Ray was the best part of this show, the finale was horrible, boring and super forgettable, the show was funny at times cringe at times and really good at times
reply

HATED: The finale of a show about an ensemble of GIRLS being only about ONE of those girls. the most annoying and painful to watch girl of the group too.
reply

After rewatch i cant believe how unlikable hannah is - she is HORRIBLE
Horrible friend
Horrible daughter
Horrible mother
Horrible person

reply

As much as I wanted Hannah and Adam together, that scene with them was so heartbreakingly perfect. I cried my eyes out! I miss this show so much.
reply

Honestly the girls were such horrible people, I couldnt stand any of them. Like, Jessa, you are like other girls; stop trying so hard
reply

Elijah becoming a main character instead of the four main girls was one of the best things that happened on the show
reply

I just finished season 6 but I kinda forgot the feeling of the rest of the show so watching it felt so distant
reply

I think Girls have some parallels with Skins. No happy ending. Adam and Jessa are some kind of incest for me.
reply

JESSA'S RESTROOM HOOK UP WAS SUPPOSE TO SHOW SHE ISNT THE SAME PERSON AS SEASON 1! She loved Adam after all
reply

Something about this show gives me severe anxiety. Feels like my early 20's all over again. not a good time.
