I actually saw this film in a movie theater. Opening weekend. Theater early empty. NO ONE saw this movie and it made little money. It influenced nothing. It's makes no narrative sense. Why is she dressed as Alice in Wonderland? Why are the hallways in the underground lair so long--especially when there are no turns? Why are they blue? Why is the room red? Who slams the doors shut behind her? Why does the film go negative when she sees Dr. Satan? Why all the double images through the goggles? This is what they should show in film school in a class called -How Not to Direct A Movie. - Texas Chainsaw Massacre was scary because it had a consistently grimy, documentary-style look. The sets in this film look like an amusement park haunted house. Just awful. How they let this guy reboot Halloween is beyond me. Zak Snyder is terrible too, but at least he can compose a shot.

This was a TERRIBLE move. It made no sense. Seriously. we're watching a more artistic and flashier Texas Chainsaw. then there's Dr. Satan, which is really the only original thing about this movie. As far as this movie changing horror. it didn't. All Rob Zombie did was introduce a new generation to the exploitation genre. But even if this movie hadn't been released, the ultraviolent movie trends would have still happened because they all came from the wave of Asian horror films.

Baby's laugh always sends chills down my spine. I like this movie because it gives its characters personality and is not afraid to use bold colour. For along time I had no interest in this movie. A rock musician now directing horror? Plus the there were so many people who weren't liking it. But when I finally did, as soon as I had watched the opening scene, I was hooked. The morbid humour, the style of it, just brilliant.

I thought it was cheesy and boring. I don't think we need it. The Texas chainsaw massacre remake came out the same year. I hired both of them at the same time. Leather face propping that leg less blonde guy up on that meat hook was more realistic in its violence than house of 1000 corpses.
Jeepers creepers and the sequel were out at the same time. the ring and the grudge.
This movie sucked.

How to escape any psycho family like the ones in House or Devils Rejects: -Pretend you are as crazy as them, kill your own friends if you have to, don't run, don't try to hurt the captors. Just go with it until the time is right. Then, when they trust you, Either escape or kill them and pretend like someone else killed them. Use their own psychology against them. -

I have been WAITING to find someone talk about this movie and how it was a change from the 1990s trend of almost PG-rated horror like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and even Final Destination. People think the early to mid 2000s period began with Saw, but Corpses was the first one to spark the brief mainstream revival of -gore- horror.

It's true; Ho1kC wasn't afraid to cross boundaries. What distinguishes it from others of it's ilk is that it did so artfully. Like Audition before it, it took the audience further than they would likely have preferred, and yet never felt like it did so merely to punish the audience. This a quality many extreme genre films lack.

I think the link to Martyrs here is pretty tenuous. France have had a new wave of horror films made possible by a number of things, the social and political climate as well as an influx of transgressive directors, to name a few but I can almost guarantee that it was not because of House of 1000 Corpses.

House of a 1000 corpses is more iconic but The Devil's Rejects is easily Rob Zombie's best work to this date, it has a better story, takes the most interesting characters from the first movie and make them the center of the movie while adding more interesting characters and a whole lot of blood and gore

The most underappretiated horror movie of all time. One of the most underappreciated movies of all time. I never understood how this film was not just misjudged but even just missed. This film diserves critique, good or bad, and there is virtually NONE. As trump would say, SAD.

This movie disturbed me so much. I wanted to like it so badly but I kept feeling like it was a movie meant for someone else. Like when someone puts on a porn and they have a very particular fetish you don-t share. -so. uh. shaved donkey lovin-. I see. -

I don't know if I'd place any real value on switching from derivative, unscary teen slashers to derivative, unscary gore clipshows but I guess I could see it if Zombie probably had some hand in it

I tried watching this film few years back, and. I found it kinda boring. So boring I didn't actually finish watching it.
I don't know, maybe I'll try revisiting it sometime.

I first watched this in middle school with some girl friends when we were in our emo phase. To me, it was a fun horror movie, way more than the Hills Have Eyes. I prefer this one.

This movie didn't add anything to the horror genre, it's just a fanboy film inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Too bad Zombie didn't learn anything by watching it.

Honestly films like the evil dead, and the texas chainsaw massacre proved to hollywood people were willing to spend money on deplorable horror films.

I'm bummed this series is over. I liked all of them, even the ones that didn't totally convince me. I hope they do it again next Halloween.

I think it was just a weird, unscary movie that didn't build up any atmosphere because of how obscure and unrelatable it was

It was hard for me to feel bad for the victims, especially the girls. I was cheering for the Firefly family the whole time.

The closest '90s horror film to -House Of 1000 Corpses- is Wes Craven''s -The People Under The Stairs-.
