I've never played or cared about any other Call of Duty game. My trophy list is a testament to that when compared to the millions of PlayStation Network accounts that you'll find with most of the Call of Duty games on. When they said this game has the worst following of any other Call of Duty game, I smiled. After loathing the release of every Call of Duty game and all of its overhyped patheticness, I saw the debut for this game and said: -It's time. - Am I getting this game for the multi-player? Nope. I won't even touch it. I'm sick of the Zombie craze on top of the games brand hype. No, I'm getting this solely for the 5-7 hour overlooked, as usual for a Call of Duty game, campaign, and then it'll go on the shelf. What's more, I was shocked to see not longer after I'd decided this, that what I found out made perfect sense. Being the Uncharted fan that I am, two of the most prominent figures at Naughty Dog left to go to Infinity Ward. What did they do at Naughty Dog? Story development (hence creating characters you care about) and another of their game play engineers. Meyer ended up going as well, I believe. It's really no surprise I entered the Call of Duty space with this game. I hate first person shooters but, this one, in space, with -Naughty Dog- on board? It was easy to say yes.

IW pros and cons
Pros:
-Fun campaign
-New mission set ups add a welcome change
-Space battles are great
-Zombies is still fun
-Good protagonists
Cons:
-Poor writing for the antagonists, no real motivation
-Very black and white characters
-Multiplayer is still the same, no risks taken like adding space battles or ship to ship combat
-Pay to win progression systems with weapon varieties
-Microtransactions
-Bad ending
-Movement feels slow compared it's competitor Titanfall 2
-Weapons progression system is a grind
6/10

Either these comments are coming from Members of EA, or just simply ten year old trolls cause this game is FAAAAR from bad. The story instantly got me hooked, great graphics, sound, etc and cool slick multiplayer levels. I am actually enjoying this more than BF1 right now, this game is at least an 8/10. Grow up you bandwagon trolls, probably the same -bandwagon- trolls who followed everyone in the -let me suffocate my self till i pass out game and planking fad- and lost your brain cells to be a leader and see a good game when it is in your face.

Brought the game today. It is terrible, going to take it back to the shop tomorrow. It is bland, had to reset the machine when switching between game modes as multiplayer stopped functioning. Also came across a hacker in the 1st 5 mins who was a new player very low level (so should have little or no unlocks but had all gun attachments, perks and what appeared to be some sort of additional armour.

Fantastic review Russ. even when Arthur was trying to turn it negative, you did a great job backing up your points and clearly had a firm grasp of what makes this game unique and potentially interesting (especially from a single player perspective. Also, don't think we didn't see that 23-2 run, pretty impressive (even though as Arthur proved with Doom, most game journos are pretty bad at gaming)

Infinite Warfare's campaign is probably one of my favs, seems like a lot of hard work and care went into this one. Shame that nobody wants to even bother with it, which is understandable but still its a shame that people are just hating it without even giving it a fair chance. Should have just dropped the call of duty name on this one though and maybe it would have garnered a bigger audience.

What I think is unfortunate is the 3 lane maps deal with the Multi-player is not fun is doesn't make a gamer better it makes them lazy if they did what other games did like battlefield it's always a struggle and it means to work hard instead of remember that you can spawn kill or trap but it's -Ok- but I'm pretty sure it's not worth its price to be honest

Ghosts is very underrated. To me it has the best multiplayer in the series. Maps are terrific, the perk system is great, weapons feel different, and you can customize your soldier! Campaign style took a step back from Black Ops 2, meaning that it's linear like Modern Warfare. Moments in it were nice though. I like Extinction more than Zombies. c:

I wonder why is it so great? I mean the writing is good but the gameplay is the same. I guess. for me this is not really a great game. rather good. The reviewer is not really a big cod nerd if he doesn't know all the features or differences between the releases(e. g.: skipping missions in bo3. but overall we got some useful info.

Top review guys, it's articulate, insightful informative in the way it is cross referential to the wider generic paradigms in a Post Modernist Gaming environ. This approaches the gamer as discerning & pro active evolving entity rather than playing up to the lowest common denominator, fanboys & the usual suspects.

if this game was called anything but COD it would be so well received. i mean, its no masterpiece, but yeah, i bet this will be fun as shit. just finished titanfall 2 campaign and ready for another great one! i'm sure the campaign is better than BF1, what a fragmented short blah campaign.

sad that people are hating on this just because it's the cool thing to do. i hated the beta and was only buying this for mwr and funny enough i prefer iw over cod 4, they fixed everything from the beta and sadly cod 4 doesnt have the same magic it did years ago
reply

Solid review. It's very rare that i agree on every point made, both the strengths and weaknesses of the game. Personally I won't mess around too much with the multiplayer, but if you've taken a break from the series for a while i think it's worth a try.

Infinite Warfare is by far the Worst game i have ever played. they have lost call of duty somewhere along the line. if you do get it get it for the COD4 Remaster. it is pure Awesome
Infinite Warfare: -1 / 10. Remastered COD4 10/10

reply

For me, the campaign & the zombies nailed it. but the MP is sooooo similar to BO3 that I question that why not just play BO3 rather than IW. but the campaign and the zombies were really nailed.

I left a copy of infinite warfare in the car on the front seat and went
in the store, and when I came back out, someone had bust my window and
left 5 more copies on the front seat!

i think is beautiful that this games gets dislikes it deserves, the reused material on this franchise is just an insult to consumer intelligence.
I hope sale figures represent this too.

reply

I would love it if they could just release the the campaign mode separately for 30$ or so. I don't care for the multiplayer at all at this point but the campaigns always look fun: (
reply

The campaign is just incredible in scope and story. It gave me Battlestar Galactica feels and invested me in all the characters. Easily the best COD campaign ever for me personally.
reply

--Looks at the dislikes in this video--
--Listens to Polygon claim that video dislikes is anecdotal--
Yeah. UH HUH keep it up guys. you sure know how to talk to people.

This game is 100GB.
Think about that.
For a 5 hour long campaign. And maybe 15 or 20 multiplayer maps. 100 gb.
It increases to 150gb if you get MW.

reply

A 3-5 hour long game with a write off multiplayer mode. I would expect a lower score if they had to used their own money to pay for the review copies.
reply

LOL RIGHT OFF THE BAT AT 00: 46 DAT HIT DETECTION DOE! AHAHAHAHAAH
Anyway, in all seriousness, i get that its the campaign, but daaaaaaaaaayuuum.

reply

It's highly unprofessional to describe Infinity Ward team members as -the dude who takes out the garbage-. Also unnecessarily rude.
reply

the only thing that has every changed in cod is the jetpacks other then that there is nothing different between the games
reply

What about the fact, that its so god damn short, STILL. 5-6 hours for a campaign, thats unacceptable for 2016 standards!
reply

'Ghosts was real bad' but you guys gave call of duty ghosts a 7, meaning 'good' or above average. Come on man -
