Check out a first look at Act 2 of Sonic Mania's remixed Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone is no longer -simply a song-, but rather the spirit of a time, the intimate essence of a being. Its the most sublime and immediately poignant/bittersweet synthesis of the spirit of videogames. It automatically brings about a sentiment of friendship, nostalgia and naivety of an epoch; the childish discovery of videogames as a nascent medium, with a lot still to be discovered along the way. Its a track so powerful that it is as if absence could be directly represented as a (forever lost) object. Something not even Nintendos master composer, Mr. Koji Kondo himself, could ever accomplish. In other words, Green Hill Zone is not only a nice representation of videogames, it IS videogames. It is us in our deepest and most unconfessable hearts.\r\n

Just when I thought this game couldn't get any more awesome, they brought back the background transitions from Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles and to Green Hill of all zones. If they do the stage music transitions as well, then that's it.
Please stop this now! I'm not sure how much more of this hype I can take. You're only making one big hodge podge of childhood memories like listening to 90's hip hop music and watching Saturday Morning Shows at their prime and getting a Sonic game at Christmas mornings and birthdays. :)

This is everything that sonic should be: Fast speeds, interactive environments, polished graphics, gimmicks, and overall fun. But then there's the Sonic fanbase that goes -HYEUGH WHO SAID SANIC HAD TO GO FAST ALL THE TIME. -
I truly hope there will be a day where even the fanbase acknowledges how bad some of the Modern Sonic games are (with the exception of a few games, like Sonic Generations)

funny this same developer is keeping embarrassing Sega SOnic team for less what they make. guy could make this game for free on PC with highest quality made game in the time. imagine what he can do with 3d games next? step aside SONIC TEAM. this new younger blood is ready fix your mistakes. start by firing Head of SONIC TEAM and entire team should fired as well.

Oh man the amount of detail in music art character animations backgrounds how gorgeous the game looks and going back to 16 bit graphics to emulate the Genesis era it almost makes me forget about all of sonics future games and how bad a lot of them were it really does feel like this game would have been awesome if it was the Genesis

Only issue I'm having is that the second player, as Tails, will still get left behind in 90% of the gameplay due to the camera only focusing on Sonic. I've tried to imagine solutions for this problem and the only thing I could think of was the camera zooming out as Tails gets further away from Sonic.

I like how carefully they handled Sonic's character design. Sonic 1 and 2 look lean and menacing, while Sonic 3 had a grin and hands that were way too big. The character just looked chubby. I'm glad these guys went for a fusion between the original Sonic's appearance and from the 2nd game.

Interesting how the fire shield has side effects.
Though I note one of the effects that the Sonic 3 version had is missing - (falling in water when you have a fire shield destroys the fire shield)
Still, that may be for the best in some ways. XD

This song makes me feel like crying every time when this level plays sonic was a big part of my childhood when i was happy and a child full of joy and dreams living happy with my brothers and my mother. love you sonic forever: )

Elemental shields! My favourite part of Sonic 3! :D
I prefer the art style and music of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but I have to say, this game is looking pretty awesome.

Why do I feel like Sega will give this game a stage that's harder than Scrap Brain and Chemical Plant together, and then it's not gonna have any 1Ups?

Seeing that the fire shield can burn the spike bridge, I wonder what else it can burn, and if the other elemental shields can do similar things?

This game is supposed to blend super fast action with explorative gameplay, yet nobody is good enough at Sonic to show us the latter.

All the shallow water pools and caves make me think of the Master System and Game Gear version of Green Hill Zone Act 2.

By the way theres gonna be new music for each act in the game. They only use Act 1's music for this not to spoil it

The character animations are beautiful, how long took SEGA to find out Sonic's 2D games are the best ones?

Looks wonderful. Can you bounce off the the item boxes faster, bounce seemed really high took too long.
