Halo Infinite is coming out. Halo Infinite is already here. On July 30, 2019, Brian David Gilbert set out to read every single Halo novel. He has finally unraveled all of them, but it's come at a price: No one wants to talk to him about Halo anymore

Part of me feels like the earlier Halo works didn't really explore the moral quandaries of the UNSC, ONI, and the Spartan program, because they didn't quite intend to; in the post cyberpunk sci-fi landscape things were just dark as a matter of course and some people just figured the future would kinda suck. Want super-soldiers? Go kidnap some kids. Want to govern an interstellar union? Prepare to normalize human rights violations. Everything had an ugly price.
Like in the original DooM for example, the reason Doomguy was assigned to security detail on Phobos was because he assaulted his commanding officer for ordering him to fire on unarmed civilians. Are the moral and societal implications of that fact explored or elaborated on? Not really.

I have to say, I've seen this video so many times. and while yes I love it because it's hilarious, Im also deeply attached to it because of how a 100% accurate your depiction is. the jokes make me laugh but at the end of the day I have no one to talk to about Halo. and those who were interested in the beginning I way overloaded so they ran in the opposite direction.

I didn't see it mentioned but the line about chakas really makes the name of the game company so much better. 343 Industries. 343 Guilty Spark is chakas. A man who thought it'd be a fun thing to do for work then he gets so sucked into it he loses all humanity. Also he's the bridge between the games and the rest of the Halo universe. This was the joke

Don't worry Brian, you're not going to destroy all sentient life in the universe, you're not capable of that. If you want someone to talk to about Halo then I'm not your guy. Maybe if you ask me nicely I'll read or listen to them, I don't have a social life anyhow

Halo the flood, can be summed up as gun calibers, aliens, gun calibers, flood, gun calibers, horror stuff, gun calibers. did I mention the 7. 62 millimeter rounds? Love the book but man I've never heard calibers every other sentence.

OMG what just hit me was the fact that this video transitions from The Before Times to today's dystopian social wastelands. My jaw dropped when I saw the calendar year flip over. I'm gonna watch the rest of the video now.

I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, then immediately bought and read The Silmarillion after, and I feel like this everyday. I have so much beautiful lore in my head, and no one to talk to about it.

I know all your vids are based off video games, but I would love to see one in this series based on Coheed & Cambria albums, graphic novels, & other media. That universe is massive

Would pay actual real American money dollars to get a full length video of a real summary of all of these books. I want to know Halo as told through Brian David Gilbert.

I'm a few years younger than BDG and remember when this video came out. I'm now older than he was when he made this. I don't know how to feel about that.

Me and Brian are very similar, which also includes the fact that we don-t read books unless needed
I hate books so much i hate the word books

Coming to the end of my Halo book journey as well, only regret I have is I should-ve read them in chronological order instead of publish order

I put off watching this vid for 3 years because I was afraid he would dislike the kilo five trilogy, I am glad he loved it, it is truly great.
reply

That's not a years worth of reading. Halo's books aren't super well written, the audience is only 13-18. It should take 2-3 days to read one.
reply

This video taught me that books can't teach you how to properly say -Spartan 117- and also that his suit doesn't jack him off.

25: 55 I think this is my favorite Brian David Gilbert quote and I think it's a crime that it's not in any of those compilations
reply

your dedication to keeping this video short ruined it, should have just went all in and made it like four hours long.
reply

I'm going through the audio books at work right now. Currently on The Flood, which is just Halo 1 in book form.
reply

Now I-m retrospective, you really should-ve written the show, because clearly the guys at Paramount couldn-t -

13: 51 beauty is in the eye of the beholder, maybe they thought that giraffe looking thing was an absolute Chad

The ironic thing about the whole summary is that they just randomly retconned the cortana betrayal in Halo Infinite.
reply

The comments is just 4 million people sayint they have nobody to talk to -- go out and talk to eachother JEEZ
reply

My question is if they could clone the kids why didn-t they just make the clones do the spartan 2 program
