I'm legit worried the movie is going to focus on the love interest more than anything else. Superman has Lois Lane and Batman has a few different ladies sprinkled in (Talia Al Ghul, Selina Kyle, Rachel Dawes) but neither focus on the love plot. Both heroes are their own people but their love interest usually comes in and motivates them to do better and to be better. Knowing Hollywood, I'm concerned that they'll lose sight of this and instead (because she's a lady) have Wonder Woman be defined by her love interest. Apparently we'll have a scene dedicated to trying on dresses and with Warner Bros. recent superhero films I just can't seem to get too excited. Fingers crossed this film can at least meet the incredibly low bar of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes that Man of Steel set.

Great ep. One thing I think when ppl say Wonder Woman should have had a movie years ago, is consideration for what kind of budget and just general care a WW movie would have gotten five or ten years(or more) ago when Hollywood really didn't think a female lead could carry a summer blockbuster. While I agree I think it would have been nice to have multiple attempts at the character like we have had with Batman and Superman, I think the first failed attempt would have been used as an example of why they shouldn't try.
what I mean is that had there been a WW movie done before the rise of the MCU successes, I fear it would have been given the budget and care that was given to the Halle Berry Catwoman movie and be remembered about as fondly.

The reason she didn't have a movie is the same reason most DC characters didn't and probably won't get a movie. It's not because she's a girl, she's just a boring poorly written character. In fact in my opinion, the most interesting DC heroes relate to batman in some way. Why not give Batgirl or Black Sparrow a movie? They would be much better poster children for female heroes, especially since they weren't made for some dude in the 60's to get his rocks off.

Wow I was so excited to watch a video on the origins of wonder woman and interesting facts but at some point y'alls just HAD to inject your worldviews into it, say what you want but I'm tired of everyone trying to 'do their part' by just pointing it out and saying that it's bad, protests, petitions, all fine but doing something typically helps too

The details about when Wonder Woman became a non-superpowered detective/reporter makes me feel a little more forgiving of the 1974 made-for-TV Wonder Woman with Cathy Lee Crosby. I was never a big fan of the comics, but I looked at that movie and thought, -This has nothing to do with Wonder Woman! - But after your video, now I'm not so sure?

Man always much respect for your work but shit that climax quote for the end really bring so much more respect for WW. I really can't wait for a day where WW and women don't have to live up to that line of a female in the JL but literally carrying the back of EVERY expectation on her shoulders.

I personally don't care for wonder woman, she never came off as too interesting to me plus everytime I hear anyone talk about her it turns to -women are strong! - ok that's cool an all but how about you actually talk about the character herself some villains plots anything.

WW not having to shoulder the burden of -The Only Significant Female Superhero- should be a big motivator for MORE WOMEN SUPERHEROES! I want flawed ladies, tragic backstories, dark heroines, weird magic women, snarky wisecracking ladies. things that WW can't be!

It's a nice shortcut that, coming at DC comics from the Timm/Dini shows, the grounding for nearly all of the major characters is both strong storytelling and nicely tied to the larger history of the character- though it takes them a while for Wondie

I'm kind of glad they waited this long to make a movie bc it was the best thing I've ever seen and if they didn't have gal gadot or the tech for the special effects it wouldn't have been as good. But I would love to watch decades worth of WW stories

Lynda Carter, the beautiful and clever original TV Wonder Woman was delightful with Lyle Waggoner who always treated her like a lady. Unfortunately, Lynda never was able to use her wonderful singing voice on the television version.

I didn't know much about Wonder Woman, and admittedly the only real comic I've ever read is Watchmen because it's a oneshot thing but god she is dope. I love her. Thank you for this very informative video ahhh

It really sucks that it took a knockoff MCU for a token -this character is famous and important to the mythos so lets do them- movie for Wonder Woman to finally get a movie, I really hope it's good.

I always thought that Wonder Woman didn't get a movie because Hollywood saw Catwoman and decided, not that it is a bad movie, but that people didn't want a leading female superhero.
