I've heard a lot of -should I play this if I never played Destiny, - but what if your question is -should I play this if I played Destiny at launch, chased too many hours after depth it felt like the game was promising but never delivering on in a satisfying way, and then felt too betrayed to ever jump back in even when people said 'it's good now after [insert expansion]? '-
I know there's not an answer for that yet. Just thinking out loud. I'm honestly feeling tempted by what I've seen, but not sure if I should trust that feeling.

The reward loop mechanics all sound like Monster Hunter so I'm gonna get this. Having a variety of game modes to grind and supplement your builds, so you can then talk shop with your friends when you team up, was my favorite thing about MH4U. I must have spent hours with my questmates just talking about how different things in that game worked. I guess that's how MMOs work also, but I've never been too thrilled by the MMO game -model-.

Ok so I finished the core game of Destiny 1 when it came out but never played any of the DLC because I was kinda disappointed with the game. Apparently the DLC made the game much much better, even winning over many who disliked the core game. Any idea if Bungie is showing signs of learning from their past mistakes? If D2 is like D1 + DLC, would it be worth checking out?

its a second job
destiny: great time waster.
zero actual fun or story payouts.
i am still waiting to know what the fuss is about destiny one after 30 hours of play.
although because its such a great time waster i got to meet few good friends there. i just wish it was on a different game.

I played a lot of Phantasy Star Online back on Dreamcast, and this seems kind of like a further evolution of that. Does that seem accurate? Also, how dependent on communication between players are you, or can you just as easily pop in and play with others and just intuit what needs to be done?
reply

this seems like a long shot someone would reply to me anytime soon, but if I just want to play the game for the story, would I be okay? would it be enjoyable? I'm not really of a online guy, co-op sure, but like the grind and pvp is not really for me.

Im thinking about buying the game but i like to play online and i dont know if this is the kind of game where its all about the campaign and is it only possible getting weapons through the story or can i get weapons by Playing online to

-Tens or even hundreds of hours- should have been -Hundreds or even thousands of hours-. This shits like heroine, even when you're not having fun anymore and its slowly destroying your life you keep on playing. Looking forward to it.

5: 20 whats the meaning of the symbols in the top right corner of your items?
My Armors (Warlock) with symbols in that spot often give Defense instead of Powerlevel, whats the purpose of that?

I dunno how I feel about sniper rifles and shotguns being locked to special ammo. Feels like we're just gonna be stuck to assault rifles, pistols and revolvers for the entire game.

This is a great primer! As a PC gamer, I've longingly followed Destiny from afar, but now I plan to go through the PC version with a friend. She'll probably find this useful.

Missed out on Destiny 1 because of no PC release. Still a little bitter, but this sounds pretty much like a FPS version of WoW so I'm more interested in this now.

Wow, thanks Grif! This was very helpful for someone new to the franchise. Does anyone know if all the epic/legendary gear picked up in PVE carries over to PVP?
reply

Thanks so much for making this Griffin! Been playing fps since Halo but I did not play Destiny. I was hoping someone would make a vid like this: D
reply

Came here because it is free at the moment. Thought it was just a science fiction multiplayer fps, turns out to be a good looking Robo-WOW.
reply

I just want to know the grind to story that a human would care about ratio.
Because destiny one's was like, 10 to 1 and I ain't about that.

reply

Thanks Griffin! I can't choose between Warlock and Hunter but I'm glad PC launches late so I can look at the PS4 gameplay to help me decide

Man I played Destiny for several hundred hours and know all this stuff already, but I still watched this just for my boy Griffin

Is this the same guy who DM's for The Adventure Zone? The voice sounds super familiar and it said -PolyGriff- and the DM's name is Griffon

I played Destiny 1, but this was still a really helpful video for understanding some of the changes and as a reminder of how things work.

I missed out on the first Destiny because I don't have a console but now I'm excited to check this one out when it drops on PC!

I didn't skip destiny 1, but I came in way too late and only finished the original story and expansion 1, but don't remember a lot

Bungie in 2017: -Story beats from Destiny 1 won't be that important in the sequel. -
Me playing Destiny 2 in 2022: -LOL-

I had Destiny 1 for my Xbox 360, but didn-t bother playing it. It-s actually good. Lol. (Never opened up Destiny 1.
