So happy you're shouting out The Prisoner. Excellent series. If you're going to watch it, keep in mind that broadcast order is different than story order. And you don't technically have to watch all the episodes. Patrick McGoohan (the creator) said there were only 7 core episodes to the story (in order):
1. Arrival
2. Free for All
3. Dance of the Dead
4. Checkmate
5. The Chimes of Big Ben
6. Once Upon a Time
7. Fall out (Conclusion)
He said that the network wanted more than he originally envisioned, so they created -filler- episodes - some using unused scripts from his previous show Danger Man. But if you do have time, there are some gems outside of the core episodes.

I love that town that the prisoner was filmed in. It's called Portmerion and it's in North Wales. I spent every summer of my childhood going there for pirate picnics and playing in the caves and on the beach. It's an amazing town and totally doesn't feel real at all. It's breathtaking though. So many brilliant memories there. Thanks for making this video, it really brought a lot of cool feelings back.

You missed another important Prisoner reference. The font used on doors and signage is a call-back to the distinctive font used in the show. In The Prisoner, the font used was called The Village font (of course) but it was a derivative of the Albertus font. Same as you see in the office building in the opening cut-scenes.
Be seeing you.

its funny that a lot of international consumers arent really aware of the prisoner, it's a huge part of the pop-cultural consciousness where i'm from. though i believe the producers of we happy few are canadian! i've been following the development, can't wait for the full game (you can get early access now afaik)

God, I loved this show. I was Number Six for Halloween. a few years ago. Went trick-or-treating with my cousin, but my outfit was so bizarre and my character so unusual that people asked me to explain the story, I guess to prove that I was a real character and not just someone dressed up real nice.

The Prisoner combined avant garde theatre, ITC spy serials, pop art, camp, cod philosophy and basically everything Patrick McGoohan liked in one amazing series. The last episode almost ruined his career. Thanks for drawing people's attention to it.

This sounds a bit weird but this is exactly what i wanted. Mid-to-late-60s/early-70s british movies and tv shows are something else. Ive been looking forward to We Happy Few and i really wished to know more about what influenced it. So thanks!

oh man the prisoner ticks all my favorite trope boxes! jenna's narrator style makes her the opposite of a talking head and i'm as excited for more of her videos as i am for we happy few. which is very. just wanna make that clear

The fact that this video only has 15K views is a massive insult, Jenna deserved more views. At least the videos of hers like petting dogs are getting views and still being made.

Whelp, thanks for dredging up that person eating wobbly ball from the deepest darkest corners of my memory. My dad must have watched this when I was little.

actually, now that the game it's fully released, you can see even some references to the movie Brazil, and for the music A clockwork orange.

Recommending your viewers watch The Prisoner while showing the climax of the final episode. Report immediately to number 2.

There's apparently a new The Prisoner comic book series coming out this year, published by Titan. The cover art looks amazing.

Playing the game, I've also noticed that most of the signs in it use the same font as the ones seen in the Prisoner

The thumbnail made me think that Jenna would dance to Red Velvet's Peek a boo.
That optic illusion shirt tho, Jen.

I only watched the remake with Ian Mckellen and I actually loved it. Haven't had the courage to pick the original one.

I went to portmerion yesterday
I am Welsh and it was really interesting and I love this game so much

reply

I'm so into this, I backed it back when it was first back-able. I don't even have a setup that can run it now
reply

i'm not sure i ever finished the prisoner, thanks for the reminder - excited to see more from jenna too!
