Alright overall as a beginner guide this is great. The overview of gameplay is solid and informative, good job. However certain tips I disagree with, specifically regarding elements. Early in the video its mentioned that you should try to use a weapon with an element thats strong agaisnt the monster your fighting. This is only true if your using a weapon that attacks quickly enough to benefit from elemental damage procs. Weapons like Bow and dual blades benefit greatly from elemental damage becuase they are fast attacking weapons. Weapons like Great Sword or Lance/Gunlance dont benefit from element because they attack to slowly. Its also mentioned that you should build armor that resists the element of the monster your fighting. This is also not recommended, because you'll be sacrificing alot of damage skills for elemental resistances. You should prioritize getting as much damage as possible with just enough comfort skills to survive your hunts. Countering and parrying monster attacks is also crucial in rise/sunbreak. At the end of the day, monster hunter is a game that has a damage oriented meta. For that reason, its better to git gud, dont get hit much by the monster, and have as much damage as possible. This is only achievable by putting in consistent playtime and fighting monsters over and over again.

WHY IS THIS GAME SO CONFUSING? I just got into it and everything feels off. Is the combat supposed to feel this stiff? I-m a vet souls player so maybe I-m used to the fast pace locked on combat. Really wish the tutorial would show me how to play the game instead of dumping 5 pages of information every time I press a button or open a menu. The game looks so fun though. Guess I-ll have to find out how to play through trial and error

I don-t want the time this wasn-t the case or at least I don-t think so but maybe you should give a part two on this video and include all of the year button press is for PC players. I-m sure it-s a lot more complicated but I just got the game myself and I would love to know all of the button combos I don-t have a Nintendo switch pro controller so I can-t use one in the game.

This video has helped more than any other beginner video. I'm new to the MH series. Or rather, I tried when MH World came out, but I was overwhelmed and had no idea how to do anything properly. All videos seem to be for people that have a basic understanding of the game already, but this one is tailored for the babies like me! Thank you so much!

I have been wanting to get into monster hunter rise for some time but couldn't do it. It was all overwhelming. So glad I found this video very too the point and not a bunch extra crap to overwhelm a beginner. Before this video I thought the hub was the only place to get quests so I was handicapping myself from the start. Seriously well done.

Thanks so much for this! I started this game today and it-s my first Monster Hunter and I really have to say, I-ve never played a game before in which I could do so few things as a beginner. I can-t fight, I can-t even do the damn tutorials. I can-t even properly move through space yet --. But this video was already very helpful!

Wow I loved Generations on the 3DS, and fell out of playing Monster Hunter as I didn't enjoy Worlds upon launch. Found Dauntless, and looking at the complexity in Rise, seems to be getting worse not better. So I guess Ill stick with Dauntless, its free, anyway so Ill keep the $70 for rise, and yeah kill Monsters faster. lol

I know this is an older video, but thanks so much! I was trying out the demo (to see if I want to spend money of the full thing) & it explained nothing. -This explains the whole system so much better - I hadn't even realized there were combo attacks & I was accidentally using items.

Great video. Looks like a great game that can keep you interested for a long time.
Probably not for me though. Looks too complicated. Not a skilled gamer. I want complexity (particularly with different ways to attack, defend, maneuver, just not this much. Any suggestions?

I want to get into MHR. I just have questions.
1) Is the deluxe edition included armors necessary?
2) Is buying the deluxe edition the only way to get those armors them?
3) Do armors degrade in this game? If so are materials to get them a bit of a grind to obtain?

reply

I'm a hammer user and before that i was a longsword user.
While longsword was always our default when starting MH, The hammer has been my more meditative and favorite because it's satisfying to stun monsters with the hammer or to do that cool acrobatic flip in the air.

I like the part when you said about the role of a Hammer and Long Sword wielder during quests. My co-workers and I were doing this way back since the PSP days. it was also the time I had to learn another weapon aside from being a Hammer-main.

Not sure if I saw this, but, in MHW you could help out other players by joining SOS Flares can you do this in rise too? Getting this game when it finally comes to xbox and figured i-d watch a guide before it releases. -

Thanks so much for this! I'm new to the series and I didn't like how overwhelmed I was with the UI and controls. I also started realizing I was not having fun because I was overwhelmed so this video really helps.

Ok questions. iv been soloing it out like a champ ngl. I haven't done any gathering hub questions but im at the point in the solo campaign and I cant beat zinorge lightning blue one so what should I do if I'm stuck?
reply

AWWWW! Your using xbox or switch buttons and not playstation! Lame! Should at least show both then. thumbs down. idk what ZL and ZR button are! Now I need to find another video to help me get started!

ya know the times ive been accidentally launched by a hammer but proceeded to do a an attack mid air and knock the monster down/break a horn felt so badass and totally not accidentally planned: )

I've been playing MHW for a Lil bit now and got MR9 HR32 but I actually didn't even know they came out with this last year. Is it worth the buy or should I finish story with MHW and Iceborn first?
reply

man I had less issues getting into Elden Ring than this game. this is a bookworm game. just to much reading and tutorials. I doubt it will be popular but I hope thoe's that play have fun.

how the hell is that monster hunter World felt like a polished good looking game, while this looks like a bad remake of a PS 1 game? The animations the VFX the graphics are all horrible.
reply

This was extremely helpful for I am a Monster Hunter veteran, but I needed a different appraoch in explaning the series gameplay to some friends looking to start Monster Hunter.

I remember trying to get into a MH game on the psp (I think Frontier) back in the day and just could not get into it. I ended up opting to play God Eater Burst instead
reply

I-ve been doing the quests in the hub for 2 straight days and had no idea they were different -
I wondered why the first monsters took me about 30-40 minutes each time -

reply

Lmao I can-t believe that I was like -yoooo why the hell is this monster still a live I have ten minutes left- but apparently that quest was a multiplayer quest lmao
reply

Anybody have this game on both ps5 and switch just because it feels better to play on the switch but obviously looks better on the ps5, yup my bank is crying.
reply

Very helpful video! I'm just picking this up as my first Monster Hunter and the amount to learn is daunting, but more management when it's broken down simply like this
reply

This isn-t a guide for babies. You said just go to the training range to test things out. How do I access the training range? How do I equip different weapons?
reply

you literally save me haha 3 days playing without knowing it. and finally got to enjoy haha. this 18 mins literally make me slay more than 8 huge monster alone haha
reply

Great video, enjoyed it very much but I-m still confused why the first mission won-t let me kill monsters, they just run away and seems like they will never die
reply

Why do people not also say the k&m controls when they say the console controls? Entire video was mostly useless simply because you couldn't be bothered.
