Welcome to Overboard Summer Camp! For the next 3 weeks we'll be exploring beyond our normal realm of tabletop games, and up first is Arts & Crafts! Today we're playing Clay-O-Rama, a D&D supplement from 1987 where the characters are made of - you guessed it - clay. Here's a link to the PDF if you wanna play!

This was a delightful video, like, it's FOR SURE going into my -Polygon comfort content- repertoire!
Also a really great first impression by Xtina, I was particularly impressed by how she managed to keep the -vroom vroom- thing funny pretty much for the entire video- it seems like a thing that could very easily just become an annoying character mannerism to fall back on when you have nothing to say, but instead it worked so well for her and for Ton's character! I saw she is also handling for the new Polygon tiktok, which isn't an app I use because I tend to favor long-form content, but based on the bits from it I stumbled across and on this video. Yeah, she seems like a great addition to the team!

Jenna's pen deciding to go off on its own adventure as a dart EXACTLY as she's explaining how the wizard lost their ring because they were gesturing too wildly was so perfect that for a moment I genuinely couldn't tell if it was planned by her or not, GREAT start to the adventure
reply

Jenna's face at Xtina's suggestion to split up has just the right amount of amusement and horror for me to surmise that that is the face of a GM who KNOWS it's one of the fastest ways to get a tpk, and honestly? I have a very strong suspicion I made the exact same face lmao
reply

whoever did the thumbnail needs to step up their game because -Claybletop RPG- was clearly the move here
anyway i never thought i would feel such immense emotional tension over a tiny purple clay blob man balancing precariously on some straws

I want a New Game + where they manage to revive the creature that was stuck in Strob so they could share their story. How did they go through the maze, or were they crushed before that? I'm way too invested in this clay world by now -

I played Clay-o-Rama at a gaming con once, in 1994, when I was in middle school, and this is the first time I-ve seen anyone talk about it since then! It-s a pretty silly game design but I-m delighted to see it is still remembered and played.

0: 59 We love a wild Drawfee ref
2: 58 After the rider has been launched and has landed on the ground uninjured, does it get it's own turns? Can it make biting attacks and unarmed strikes? I anticipate this being resolved later.

I know a certain Polygon ex-employee who may have some expertise in darts - Might be able to give you some pointers Jenna! Though you were an excellent mosquito nonetheless!

Is that faint background music at some points from Claymates? It's a bit hard to hear, but it sounds like Claymates to me, and that would be absolutely perfect for this.

thank you for bringing us all step closer to the ideal world in which all pieces of game-related media conclude with the message that we need to attack and dethrone god

Welcome to Camp Overboard! For the next three weeks we'll be releasing some camp-themed episodes of our tabletop series. What kinds of games did you play in summer camp?
reply

This is SUCH a good ttrpg idea! The only problem I have is that I hate the sensation of clay oil in my hands, touching paper sounds like it would send me into a panic
reply

Oh my goodness this is perfect! Been wanting to play DND with my family for ages but they keep saying no but this? There's now way they'd pass this up-
reply

Simone- your haunted ass side pony made this entire video. Mega stylistic props. Also, all you guys are real good and keep doing what you-re doing.
reply

Thank you for gracing us with lines like, -Shall we follow the trail of the gelatin, since Fimo Snake seems enamored with the idea of loneliness? -
reply

Jenna the camp counselor! That-s why I love her so much! I never put the pieces together, but she has such incredible camp counselor energy!
reply

Laying Jenna off is the worst decision vox media ever made. Good luck to you Jenna and I look forwards to seeing what you do next.
reply

It would be nice to get an introduction when someone new joins the crew. Is Christina going to be a regular for video content?
reply

Diversity win! The wizard creating and destroying life without hesitation or remorse to suit their personal desires is nonbinary!
reply

This was golden, original content that wouldn't have been possible without Jenna. It's a travesty that Polygon have let her go.
reply

I can-t believe there-s a Spheal Drawfee reference in the begining there love being reminded of that horrible horrible being
reply

Jennas shirt is very -camp counselor who-s into dnd and is the coolest person a nerdy ten year old has ever met- and also I need it
reply

Simone's instinct to put everything she encounters in her mouth is such a mood and yet another reason to love her
reply

So glad to see Overboard back! This is like the biggest pumpkin stuffed with meat being tossed into the enclosure.
reply

I want more of this, no, I NEED more of this! session two where the clay-venturers dethrone GOD must occur!
reply

I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this. Fantastic video, keep on delivering board game and RPG gold.
reply

I've rewinded to -I'm trained to handle these gelatins- at least a dozen times. It gets better each time.
