There's a reason why I always preferred just buying albums by bands I liked. Because sometimes their so-called hits aren't necessarily their best songs. Extreme being the biggest example of this. I have all of their albums, and there are a lot better songs than More Than Words or Hole Hearted on those albums that were not hits. Because a lot of times the songs that get picked for radio aren't picked by the band, but by some corporate suit that has absolutely no taste in music. And because of this, so many good songs fall by the wayside. And it's a shame.

Must have been pretty cool to research this one. I'm thinking artists with one successful album. Umm. Gin Blossoms. Maybe not. Tori Amos It's really difficult because the 90s were the decade where there was tonnes of detachment. I don't think dance music or Britpop touched many places outside of Europe ditto a lot of rap outside of America
reply

I remember Right Here, Right Now very well. It was a powerful song that was written about the fall of Communism in in Eastern European countries. The video had images of the fall of the Berlin Wall and was so powerful. They also took inspiration from Prince (Sign O' Times) which was I think his best album hands down.

I feel like what really made Blaque's second hit was the remix or re-release that NSYNC on the track w/ them. The rare times I hear that song, it's usually the collaborative version and not just Blaque. If you do one for the '00s, you've gotta include JoJo with Leave, & Too Little Too Late. And Stacie Orrico too!

The first half of the 1990s was dominated by the alternative music scene from Seattle and Manchester. New genres such as grunge, shoegaze, baggy, Britpop, etc. But radio stations were still sticking to their safe music styles such as dance music, pop singers, and hard rock.
reply

Dude, you forgot Fastball. Their song The Way was a worldwide hit, while Out of my Head is more successful in the western countries only. They should have been here though. They are the best example of two-hit wonder musical act.
reply

2: 00 One of those songs that somehow managed to have not aged at all over several decades.
Same goes to 3: 53 btw. And that song is still played at least 1 x in a week and it doesn't sound any different from the 2022 songs lol.

reply

I thought Sixpence None The Richer had more hits than Kiss Me & There She Goes, there is Angelthread in 1995, Breathe Your Name in 2002 as well as their cover of Don't Dream Its Over.
reply

For anyone whose era was the 90's some seriously intense nostalgia here. Really powerful actually, especially during the ones I've not really thought of or heard since. Brilliant!
reply

Actually, Sixpence None The Richer went to #1 on the CCM Magazine's Christian radio chart with Breathe in 2000 and had a top 20 hit with Breathe Your Name in 2001.
reply

Soul Asylum had 2 hit wonders. Runaway Train and Misery was the best songs releases in the 90's. A big 30 year difference, yet Misery appeared in the Clerks 2 OST
reply

Thanks for this video, it's a really original theme, well found! Bring back some nice nostalgy like Spin Doctors, Inner Circle or Robin S: very nice tunes!
reply

Some random Guy - where are you from Becouse in Europe La Bouche and John Scatman - LEGENDS of Eurodance! The sounds literally everywhere in these times!
reply

Actually, Eiffel 65 isn't a two-hit-wonder group.
They had others hits like Too Much Of Heaven, Lucky (In My Life, Back In Time, One Goal, etc.

reply

Great video. I was surprised to find La Bouche and Spin Doctors only had two hits. Seemed like they both should have been bigger in the U. S.
reply

Oh God, Beautiful In My Eyes is still played in my country somehow. I thought it waa from the 80s, which is the era this country is stuck in.
reply

Thanks for showing the world than 2 hit wonders exist
One more suggestion is the band Blues Traveler with their 2 songs Run Around and Hook

reply

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Gin Blossoms A two hit wonder With Hey Jealousy and Follow you down, or did they have more hits
reply

I love it when the 90s stop sounding like the 80s and get their own identity that sounds so PERFECT and keeps going until the very early 2000s.
reply

Marky Mark still was kinda big together with Prince Ital Joe after his time with funky bunch and before stepping into movie business.
reply

While there is a small amount of good music here, the 90s definitely had a huge decline in great music compared to the 70s and 80s.
reply

Hesitate a bit, but I'd add Adamski, Enigma and Des'ree. I'd have to struggle to find their THIRD hit, digging in my memory.
reply

Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch. Wish he would've knocked out Eminem live on TRL when he was cracking those weak funky bunch jokes.
reply

Paula Cole indeed only had 2 hit: Where Have All The Cowboy Gone and I Don’t Want To Wait despite her Best New Artist trophy
reply

Technically, Crystal Waters had a third hit in Europe as featured artist for Alex Gaudino's Destination Calabria in 2006.
reply

Sixpence also had third and fourth hits with a cover of Don't Dream It's Over and I Can Only Breathe Your Name.
reply

The Jamaican music industry is something else. it's not very easy to tell the exact date so many songs were released
reply

Very interesting video. You're absolutely right about La Bouche and Inner Circle - they had many hits in Europe
reply

What about Shanice Wilson She had the '91 hit I Love Your Smile and the '93 hit Saving Forever For You.
reply

I still listen to Show Me Love, great song and voice. Kiss Me and There She Goes are still bangers too.
