Two Elephants Freed From Concrete Pit After 20 Years Comeback Kids I could support Breeding Programs around the world for many endangered species but I do NOT support ZOOS.
Zoos are nothing more than Prisons where animals are taken away from their own kind in nature and imprisoned for our entertainment and often mistreated and never see their forests, jungles, streams, lakes and deserts ever again. Its Wrong and it Has to STOP!
My greatest thanks to the people who make, finance, support and work at these wildlife preserves and to those who are always trying to return these beautiful creatures to their Natural Environment.

There should be an international group
which sets the standards for zoos.
The Bronx Zoo
has been disgraceful.
They had 2 female elephants which did not get along, so they were in different areas. For decades. These majestic animals are herd animals.
The zoo won in court. Disgusting. I think one of the poor elephants died recently.
The Bronx Zoo should let the lone one go to a sanctuary. Animal abuse.
They have a cute show on the Animal Planet. They boast of how much they appreciate and care for their animals.
Oh, really

its so strange that a giant herbivore happens to be one of the smartest animals on the planet. Normally you don't associate herbivores with intelligence, and even more so for ones that live in herds and have few predators. I wonder what environmental pressure caused them to become so different. Or does it have to do with the fact that they possess a trunk that can manipulate things in their environment like primates with our opposable thumbs

Those who were responsible for their imprisonment all those years should be held criminally responsible and imprisoned themselves. You know, it’s definitely not right to hold an animal in inadequate surroundings virtually for life. Just not on!
reply

They still need much more space, that’s why they were eating the shorter grass at the very outer perimeters of this more lush environment you folk have made. They need a water environment too, onwards and upwards, well done to all.

The humans who thought their life's were good the the pit for twenty years should be placed in the same pit for the next twenty. Same conditions and food source. Thank you so much for saving the beauties.

It is literally emotional torture to confine these intelligent and emotional animals to such small spaces. They are meant to roam many miles daily. Thank you for rescuing them from that concrete prison!
reply

Bless you, bless you, BLESS YOU for finally doing the right thing for these two innocents. Many more now need to feel the same mercy. It CAN be done -- but the world at large must stop looking away.

A sad desolate life for these animals and the zoo and public for leaving it too late in a concrete pit. Thank you savers. I visited there many years ago and cried at its cruelest environment

Thrilled to see these beauties heading to a better life, I wish an end to all elephants being in captivity, they are beautiful sensitive creatures and deserve to live authentic lives

Every time I see something like this I realize how cruel the human species is in general, except of course the rare individuals who participate in rescue missions like these: - /

It is such a satisfying relief to see these elephants free and being able to lead the life that they were born to live. I hope that they have many wonderful years ahead of them.

So glad they could come together. Makes it twice as sweet.
I benefit over seeing what others did for these majestic creatures because they did what I couldn’t. I am grateful.

What a wondrrful story thankyou so much for giving these elephants their freedom so sad they spent most of their lives in that horrible pit you are true Angels Thanyou
reply

I really respect what you do for these beautiful animals. No animal should be caged just for entertainment. They should all be free to roam and live life to the full.
reply

I’m disgusted by the way humans treat animals. We are a terrible species. Maybe there will be a day when the rest of the animals can live their lives without us.

So many unanswered questions: if she was taken from the wild, why wouldn't she be able to find her own food, survive in the wild How did she get bred
reply

This is such a disgrace on humanity, this should’ve never been allowed. IT’s criminal the way they were treated. Thank you for rescuing them
reply

Pls DO NOT LEAVE ANY BACK ALONE LIKE ANOTHER ZOO DID. After 5 yrs of being left alone in a zoo the lion was found being left back and alone
reply

People need to experience a life within the natural world to appreciate this planet.
Its only those that dont know nature that cause war.

Elephants love to throw dust on their backs constantly. I wonder if they ever got to do that in jail.
