House Cat Spots Two Stray Kittens In His Backyard, And Then A million thumbs-up to all involved here! Back in 2011 a feral mom gave birth to a litter under my porch. We were able to get mom caught and spayed, and all the kittens from the litter were adopted. I got two of them, Chicken & Fingers, the former named because he was one and the latter because he had extra ones. They never stopped being semi-feral, though they were indoor cats for the rest of their lives. Sadly, Fingers died under anesthesia at the vets right around his 4th birthday in July of 2015, and at 9 years old, Chicken developed diabetes. He never really let me get to the point where I could give him his insulin without a struggle, and it wasnt like I could reason with him that it was for his health. So, I just fed him the healthiest food I could, kept him comfortable, and finally, at the age of 10 and a half, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February of 2022. I miss them both like crazy, neurotic though they were, and I console myself that I gave them the best lives I could, and their existence was far easier for them than it would have been had they remained feral strays.

My cat Atilla was the product of a feral mother. Me and the neighbor across the alley had been feeding her and both got nests ready. April 30, 2007 I went outside in a drizzling rain and found Mom had two kittens, so I picked them up and brought them to the bed on the back porch. Mom was trusting and stayed there and shortly there were two more kittens. Later the mom moved the kittens to the neighbors, why I don't know. So I kept one kitten, Atilla, and he's on the couch watching me. Almost seventeen and I knew him the day he was born.
Both of those cats are so gorgeous. Especially the eyes.

The down side is while this kitten is freaking out this darling of a person lets it's ADHD kid to harass this kitten until it has no choice but to conform. Young kids don't have the restraint to be anywhere near a scared cat or kitten. They will man handle & pursue forcing themselves onto a kitten because they want it. they want it to play with them. I have no use for kids until they are at least 35 yrs old and then in small doses.

Why could brother & sister not both say or both go to the neighbors I get they are still close by but that just seems wrong to break up siblings especially abandoned ones who for a while literally have only each other. Even when it comes to human adoptions I never understand breaking up siblings.

Just rescued some feral kitties.
We used the sound of kittens on our phone to draw them to us.
So cute. Im so glad you found them

I believe cats know their liniage. I had an auntie cat named Pip, and adopted her sisters kitten Mini. They loved each other. They were night cats. Mini was all black, and Pip was dark smoke just like Lupin. Great video. Liked.

Lupin is the image of my cat, Bella. :) Also, my cat doesn't usually meow at the window. Cat proceeds to meow at window all through interview. :)
What a great story though - everyone staying up to try to save this kitty.

Omg great story. however these kids parent's should be very proud.
Their kids are very young, and amazingly articulate for their age. There should be more parent's like you. Great job. your kids are awesome.

Good Ole Lupin the 3rd. Great TV show. One of my favorites from back in the day. It's spelled Lupin, but it is pronounced Lupon. Great name for a cat. I'm actually quite perturbed that I didn't think of it myself.

Such a beautiful story. Yup! That's what it takes to rescue fur babies at times! What a wonderful community of neighbors! . To take Community Watch shifts! How beautiful!

Didn't take them both He NEEDED his sister. Let me guess: cheapskate dad. We don't know anything about that, do we Not you, triggered Narcissist troll. We the normal people. :)

Wonderful, bless all the rescuers, large and small. I love that the young people were so involved in this, that’s raising compassionate people of the next generation.

I realise the adoption certificate etc is 'cute' but. please consider adopted children who might watch this and how they might relate to the kittens; 'adoptions'.

You, the parents and the children are all animal lovers, that make your family exceptional, thank you for saving the cats, they are in a good family such as yours

You live in a wonderful neighborhood and I hope that never changes for any of you. Bless all of you for your kindness and care. The world needs more of you.

A giant solid grey cat like the kittens is the father to my kittens but out of 4 none of them are solid grey but one was solid black although he has long hair.

Now that is too freaking sweet
Taking shifts with the neighbors to catch him!
I'm so happy that y'all caught him and all of the other ones: ']

reply

Umm. you can just grab 'em. That's not verboten. They'll get over the trauma of someone other than their mother grabbing them by the neck.
reply

I love kids that care about animals and parents who are willing to foster that loving spirit. Its becoming more rare these days, sadly.
reply

I know how it feels I rescued kittens to it was fun but it was stressful as well but fun part is actually when they get adopted

And then, when Puberty strikes, Baebo and Lubin will be bitter enemies. Same thing happened to two four of my cats.

Lovely story, the difficult bit comes as they get older and you have vets bill to pay, and food to buy.
