A Giant Snapping Turtle Showed Up This Family’s Yard With An Amazing Surprise Wild Hearts lol thank you for letting us go into a fish’s belly. lol. That’s usually the life to death ratio. 1 out of a million chance to live for turtles lol. That’s why when you let them grow to adult size then you are really rescuing them. I know. Because I have turtles. After 5 years of rescuing them form birds, fish, or any other creature, they are ready for the lake and survive on their own

Am I the only one that thinks day 1 look there are eggs, he shouldn't have been doing DIY and instead called experts who might have improved chances ever more. Though glad it appeared to have worked out ok but we won't know as we only get to see afterglow release
But because internet matters

My first day working a Lowe's a number of years ago was interesting. The store was next to an irrigation creek and a bunch of these guys hatched. They were all over the parking lot and many had found their way into the store. We were collecting them all day to be released.

A neighbor had to stop the construction of his staircase down to the lakeshore because a mama turtle chose to lay her eggs right where the stairs were going to go. The soil had been loosened and that's where she left her little ones.

Snippy was on her faithful mission from God's Nature. The storm was no accident. God makes His plans effortlessly. This family of samaritans stepped in to help Snippy and her brood. Well done, humans! Well done, God. Well done, Parent!

Had a snapping turtle once and it was butting its head against the glass door for a or two days before living. Refused to let my dog near any bushes for the next few weeks. They're cute in nature but don't really belong near people.

That turtle picked out the biggest house and greatest yard, as home for the kids! And the family lived up to the yard, and took good care of the eggs! She will be back next time, now that she knows she can depend on them.

I will say, he's kinda brave to be handling these. Common Snapping Turtles have a very wide strike range and a very strong bite. Even those little guys could do some damage, and you basically can't hold them completely safely.

You should be in jail. Saving the eggs then transporting the young to another location than where you discovered them initaly can leed to infestations. Snapping turtles are invasive. Whos pond did you just devistate

I love Snapping turtles, having saved more than one from getting hit by traffic by moving them safely to the other side of the road.
You did a good deed helping those turtles hatch, then taking them to a pond.

You were very lucky. Moving turtle eggs can kill the embryos. If you have to move them pick up one at a time and do not turn them over.
You had no choice because they had already been disturbed by the rain.

Man, if that nest hadn’t washed out I bet they would’ve had about a dozen more! He would’ve been fine re-burying the eggs in the exact same spot as long as their shells weren’t compromised.

Once I was swimming 'cross turtle creek,
Man, them snappers all around my feet
Sure was hard swimming 'cross that thing
With both hands holding my ding-a-ling-a-ling!

Those things are really dangerous pests. They will absolutely take a chink out of your kids and animals. You shouldn't help them. Kill on sight. Snapper stew is good.

I thought that turtle eggs need to be place in the same upright position that they were laid in. Maybe because it was so soon after laying that it doesn't matter

What a nice man! he should pick up the guitar and play rhythm guitar for a post-hardcore/alt rock band and form a vaguely homoerotic relationship with the lead singer!

Cool. I knew right away what she was doing having watched Lager Head turtles come up on the beach and do the same thing. The back legs are their hidden shovels. :O)

This is such a cool video. Dad and his kids did a good job caring for these little turtle eggs. It was awesome seeing them hatch. Good job and good video.

Pretty exciting. Those kids will always remember this.
I remember the first turtle I saw back around 1943, in Pennsylvania. It just showed up in our yard.

I found a snapping turtle laying eggs in our yard on the first day of school in 7th or 8th grade, i found the babies hatching out on the last day of school
reply

they only do this when they cant find any place safe to lay eggs- I would check the local wet areas to see if they are not polluted with trash or other damage
reply

They're so smart. The mother knew that laying the eggs there was the safest place for them. Among humans, they would be safe from predators.

Some lunatic brought snapping turtles west of the Rocky Mountains, and now they have been found wild in all the Pacific coastal states.

A lot of baby turtles have what is called an egg tooth to help them break through their shells. The tooth falls off eventually.

A fantastic learning experience for your children. Thank you for loving nature and passing that along to your children. Priceless!

Stories like this go way further to motivating people to help the environment than any of the whiny climate change people.

This helps repair my damaged view of people, to see an ordinary Dad and Kids, care about these little turtles.

The ONLY time you see turtles out of water like this is when the females are ready to lay eggs.
