Pit Bull Dog Wins Over Her Guinea Pig Sisters Odd Couples
video description
Ive had a huge dog, 3 cats, a bird (cockatiel, rabbit, 4 rats, and a guinea pig ALL loose and interact with each other everyday. They all seen each other as brothers & sisters and me and my girlfriend as the alpha male & alpha female. Of course cats are NOT pack animals, but will adapt and learn (most of the time. lol) when raised that way. Birds, rabbits, rats, and guinea pigs are prey animals, but will also adapt and feel comfortable when the predatory animals do NOT act as such. Of course there are exceptions and it takes a lot of time & effort to integrate all these animals into a functioning pack and family. If the predatory animals are fed, get exercise, and raised properly, there is no need to attack or play too rough with smaller animals. They just need to see how you interact with those animals, and if you are gentle and have positive energy around them (as the leader, they will mostly fall in line.
IMO, cats & birds are the most difficult to train. Some are just too uncomfortable, but will usually avoid interactions, as long as they see you as the alpha, instead of trying to attack or get defensive. One thing you can NEVER do is force an interaction. Sometimes no matter how much positive energy you display, some animals just wont ever feel comfortable with others.
P. S. Dogs that are raised properly will almost always be loyal, follow your lead, and only get aggressive if they feel you are threatened or in danger.

Super cute! I wish my guinea pigs were like this! My oldest, Ash, is so intelligent that he's an absolute jerk lol we love him anyway and he runs the house. Our newest, Jasper, has PTSD so he's terrified of everything and STILL hasn't warmed up fully to us but he's getting better. If Jasper hears a bell sound, he goes bonkers and reverts. The shop he was in had a loud bell on the door that would ring upon entry and exit, he was by the door and heard it all day long. My poor little guy is super traumatized. He is very vocal too as to where Jerk, I mean Ash, hadn't made a peep the entire year we had him until we got Jasper. I remember literally crying the first time Jerk, I mean Ash, spoke. It sounds ridiculous, I know but he's my little baby no matter how rude and judgemental he is. Piggies are a lot of work but they're the best

The funny thing is my standard poodle, so loving with humans, has a high prey drive and would never be able to be like this around something small and fluffy and moving. It. would not end well for them. But I'm sure if people had to choose who is the one that is safe around these piggies, my standard poodle or this pittie, most would choose, y poodle. It's all about prey drive and instinct- which the breed of the dog influences, but it can vary wildly even between litters sharing one or both parents! This dog looks so sweet grooming the little hair potatoes

Gotta say, even though a dog is very sweet and has a great temperament, accidents can happen.
My mom had a friend once, who had this super friendly basenji, that had never shown any signs of aggression towards anyone or anything. Wasn't used for hunting either.
One day, that basenji klled my moms 3 guinea pigs. Just jumped into their cage and that was it.
Sure it wasn't 100% the dogs fault, it was the owner for not watching the dog. But like I said, accidents happen.

It is so sad that pit bulls have gotten such a terrible reputation due to horrible people who took dogs that are naturally loving, sweet, and nurturing and abused/neglected some of them in order to turn them into vicious violent killers. That is not the fault of the dogs or their breed it is 100% the fault lowlife bastards who did that to them. It seems that as humans everything we come into contact with we change for the worse

Sick and tired of pits being labled as vicious and dangerous. If you run upon a pit that is aggressive then just take a look at the owner and how that dog is treated. That is where you will find the agression. pits are wonderful and my 98 pound vicious animal raised cats, pups, one oppossum, and a mariad of wild birds. He left us after 17 years in january 2022. I miss him very much

There's always gonna be exceptions. Animals that have been particularly abused and mistreated could have various triggers that could result in aggression. Just the same as people.
But I have observed that, in general, when animals realise they don't need to compete for food or safety and are treated with love. they have no reason to show aggression to anything.

pit bull dogs are pack animals to the nth degree. Will protect anyone they see in the pack but feral animals or outsiders like even a horse are fair game. My pit bull protected a housecat cat at much damage to his ear, but ate a young skunk backend first. And he was ready to get a feral cat right after wards. What a lunk

It's amazing how almost any animal is capable of establishing deep relationships within their own species and outside of it the level of love and compassion they are capable of is rather staggering that's why animals are gifts to us and why we should act as their Stewart's and protectors

cute ending, but they shouldn't have been introduced to each other in the first place. this could have gone VERY very differently. pitbulls are strong and fast and even with a supervised owner close by, the piggies would have been dead in less than 2 seconds.

When that pitbull snaps and eats those guinea pigs one day, the owner, like every other pitbull owner, will act surprised that this vicious breed could do such a thing.

It is so unfair! Pit Bulls are awesome babies. They are always associated with aggression. If they are reared properly these are some of the best dogs on the planet!

Animals are very good at accepting each other - no matter how different they are. Humans used to be capable of this.

I think the dog is very thankful and sees that the owner seems to care about the smaller ones, so so does the dog.
