Obese Rescue Dog Can't Stop Smiling When She Loses Half Her Weight Faith = Restored Thank you, Meredith, for first fostering Miss Bertha, then being determined to do whatever it took to get her to a healthy weight. She looks like an older lady, with all that grey/white around her muzzle. But you not only saved her, but almost surely added another 5 years to her life. At least. And thank you for adopting her. After all shes gone through, with you taking the time and effort to help her get to where she can actually do dog things - and enjoy them, I think it would have been emotionally devastating for her to have to move on. So thank you. Sincerely. For saving her life. In every way.

Fantastic video. God smiled at her by finding you. Amazing that you had the right equipment too.
With so many of these poor animals you can see the shame in their faces. They know they are overweight and it's heartbreaking.
But honestly, I would have changed her name. The name Bertha has always been associated with obesity. As in Big Bertha. Even if I just called her Bertie, But I think I'd give her a very pretty name.
Anyway, congratulations. You turned her life around.

I had a dog who was bone thin. The vets and I tried everything to get weight on him and there was no medical reason for it. Eventually it took six months, lots and lots of high nutrition food as well as high nutrition, high protein, home made sausages that got his weight on. He was always slim. All that time I could feel people judging me not understanding what we were trying to do. So I don’t judge the owners unless I have all the facts at hand.
This rescuer did an amazing job!

My childhood dog is a puggle who is now 17 and dying of cancer this reminded me of her. I can’t believe she lived so long and I 100% believe it’s due to the fact that she’s had regularly good exercise and a very strict diet. Like most pugs and puggles she is obsessed with food so we had to be really serious about managing her weight.

My dog is a lot like that dog and she used to be fat but then we saw another dog next door that is also that dog but REALLY fat. Because of that dog we decided to make her loose the weight and even though she’s really healthy and slim today, still just as lazy! Some habits just don’t go away I guess!

I have an elderly Yellow Lab mix with a weight issue. It's obviously my bad for overfeeding him. This viddy tells me what I gotta due to help him lose weight and raise the quality of his (and my) life. We are inseparable. Both 70. Good to see it's possible.

People that feed dogs human food like ice cream donuts, fries McDonald's crap. You should be charged for animal abuse! If you think feeding your dog consistently with human food is kindness. wait till dies from obesity. Than its not soo funny anymore!

The older you get, the more miserable that weight becomes. Anyone talking about how cute she was cares more about your entertainment than the dogs comfort. Imagine years of not being able to scratch your ear or ass. Misery.

No one is making any comments about Bertha’s amazing outfits! She clearly loves wearing them and all the attention she’s getting. Thank you for being so diligent with helping her. Bertha seems like she has a great life!

Only in America. can a homeless dog be fat.
Say what you will about the ol' US of A, but one thing you cannot argue - It's impossible to starve to death in this country.

Loving a dog isn't over feeding them. Love then enough to give them the best diet and exercise. They'll be happier and love you for it.

keeping your pet lean is the loving thing, not giving them processed treats. I give my dogs green beans and broccoli as treats.

If the gym had a bed in the corner, I would def nap on it while everyone else ran on the treadmill Bertha is my spirit animal.
