Abandoned Cat Was Antisocial Until A Tiny Kitten Forced Him To Play With Her Cat Crazy How wonderful! Phoenix really, really needed a friend and little Ruby became that special friend. Yes, absolutely, keep these two together. If the adopting family decides they cant keep one or the other, please ask them to sign a contract to bring them both back to you. Phoenix could not take having his heart broken again. In fact, IMHO anyone who adopts from you, should sign a contract agreeing to return the adopted cat or kitten to you if for some reason they cant keep the cat. That is what the rescue I volunteered with did and still does. It makes perfect sense to me to request this of the adopters. Also, if the adopters rented their apartment or house, we would call the landlord to make sure that cats are allowed. Not everyone is honest about this. We would also request vet info, past pet info, for references and would follow up on them. Sounds like a lot of work, but it wasnt really that bad, and we avoided some missteps that way. We also tried hard not to adopt out single kittens and to keep bonded pairs together. Please forgive me for attempting to tell you your business. You guys clearly know what you are doing, but I still felt a need to say it.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious he was seriously depressed. I'd very much like to know what happened to his previous owner. I agree that he probably loved them. I hope they didn't just abandon him.
The little (about 4-5 lb) cat in my arm (his favorite spot) ran away from me when we met, but moments after we got him and his brother home, he had tracked me down to my computer room and planted himself on my shoulder. His brother was not far behind him. I kind of hope I outlive him, so he won't have to miss me. After forty years of having my own cats (as opposed to my family's cats growing up, I've finally found one that likes to ride my shoulder. even going down the stairs (I'm disabled, so I'm wobbly on stairs. He's made it clear that he's my master. His brother likes me almost as much--while Zephyr sleeps on my arm, Mandrake (shiny black with nice white spot on his chest--classy, like the magician) sleeps on the bed as close as possible to my chair. If I'm in my computer room, they like to lay on my computer and block the top vent. so helpful.

AWW they both such a cutiee. remain me of my older cat, my mom brought him home from market. she notice someone just throw plastic with kitten inside that. after he's older my sister brought home another baby kitten from her friend. at first we lil bit anxious and the older cat doesn't like the idea of having brother but after a while he gain to love him and bath his lil brother. and teach him how to wipe his butt I guess, cause every time the older cat come home and meet his lil cat he always checking his butt and clean it. but now when both of cat is older the lil bro cat like to fight him whenever he laying around such an ungrateful brother haha. they both so different but getting along very well

I’m so glad you recognized that Phoenix really needed Ruby for his Main source of happiness and refused to take her away from him as a cat who already had suffered so much loss
and would only adopt them together. Right now it looks like Ruby is a throw in part of your family unit purely for the benefit of Phoenix but I’m pretty sure she has developed an attachment to him and as you get used to her developing personality you folks will grow to love her for who she is even after Phoenix has passed on. Thank you for keeping Phoenixes late in life family unit togethrr.

I’m gonna guess Phoenix had a role model when he was a kitten and decided to take on the role for the kitten as he knew what needed to be done, that triggered his inner kitten.
Life got the best of him for a while, he just needed a nudge in the right direction and a safe place to play.

Oh Lord please forgive the people who do this to beautiful, innocent animals,
You entrusted them to us, to care for them, love them, not to hurt them, abandon them, hurt and mistreat them!
Have mercy on this who dare do these things to these beautiful babies, your creation my Lord

I wonder if these two ever got adopted out together. I thgt they were going to say his piss poor attitude was due to the fact he's deaf bc of his one blue eye and one green eye. Then again, how can you tell if a cat is just mean vs. a cat just being a cat

after my 5 rescues. now four. I know what they are thinking.
If I meow, I will get food
If I am in your lap. scratches
When I am beating up my brother. Attention.
If I am around. prancing. attention.
and when I want attention. attention!

My friend had a cat that wouldn't play with anything. So I brought over three ping pong balls and started bouncing them all over the kitchen floor. Two minutes later, the cat was all over the ping pong balls and completely changed after that.

I too, have just taken in an older stray/abandoned cat from my neighborhood. It's skin condition looks EXACTLY like Phoenix did when you took him in. How did you treat Phoenix for his skin condition to heal so well

How kittens can change everybody's lives. They are courageous, and adorable. I am so happy that Phoenix found Ruby who got him back to life. He is really lucky. Thank you for this amazing video.
reply

I think it's crazy that you would leave a family member behind, because oh well, someone else will take care of him, probably. I bet they just got another pet out of boredom.
reply

That made me cry for some reason. I'm so happy for them that they found one another. So happy. Ruby and Pheonix. How perfect. They needed one another.

How can one abandon a pure white cat with such beautiful heterochromia No wonder he’s a grumpy old git, he won the genetic lottery and still lost.

Absolutely amazing, heart touching and educating. Thank you for your fantastic, loving job with cats. Thank you for posting this wonderful video!

Phoenix just needed that boost of energy from the kitty which was a perfect win win for both. Happy together in a great forever home.

He started grooming her!
Sorry, couldn't resist, whenever I get emotional, I start making jokes, it's a defensive mechanism!

Phoenix was probably like, Alright, look, if you're going to harass me you're gonna be clean while doing it!
reply

They are still pets abandoned. One of the ways to stop pet abandonment is to report animal neglect and abuse.

I'm not crying, I think someone is cutting onions nearby and I just don't see them that's all.
