Feels as though all animals, yes including animals, want to be able to trust and enjoy other animals company. This only increases survivability in the end by befriending other species.
So mixing any 2 animals together from a young age seems like it'll end up in a friendship.
But alas we have a planet that is based off life consuming life to survive, whether it be plant or animal life, cells need cells.
So all animals kill when required to consume, which is a scary act and keeps from species befriending eachother for the most part.
But in an environment where food is provided and survivability is guaranteed, species tend to relax a little more.
