Tiniest Baby Deer Asks Woman To Rescue Him Faith = Restored Momma deer will leave their babies to keep them safe. When they are born, they have no scent, so theyre camouflaged from predators, and mom stays away to keep her scent from the baby, but shell return to move the baby, usually between sunset and sunrise. Thats why its important not to touch or interfere with newborn fawns. You should never have contact with them, or youll cause them to have a scent and become detectable to predators and create fear from mom. If its hurt or in the same place longer than a couple of days, then call park rangers or the wildlife center nearest the location so they can better assess the situation.

Just a reminder that deer often leave their fawns alone for hours. They will not return if they think predators are near.
They may then feed the fawn and leave again. You’re probably not going to see her, and that’s the point.
Unless the fawn is seriously dehydrated, in immediate danger or you’ve been checking for longer than one day, leave the fawn alone!
(Some animals like rabbits are even more hands-off with raising their young)

Normally this doesn’t happen with baby deer. A word I think most people know but I might as well refer again. If you see a baby deer laying in a field, do not approach. They do it naturally to hide from predators until mom comes back.
My guess why this baby deer approached this lady is because something may have happened to the mother. The baby was very hungry. Naturally, baby animals don’t do this unless something happened to the mother.

I work in construction here in NC and the amount of deforestation is insane! I hope some people realize how bad we are the environment. Please think about that before buying a home. Think about what used to be there and if are willing to accept you bought land that was theirs. I feel bad every time I see these wild animals wandering in finished neighborhoods. I know I’m part of the problem too. I wish there was a better way to coexist.

The fawn was abandoned because it is a Piebald Deer, which is a deer that has white fur due to a mutation.
Many times, the mother will abandon the deer, but even if the mother attends to the fawn, the white in their fur often gives their position away to predators. Seeing an adult piebald deer in the wild is a rarity, so if you do see one, grab a picture! It's an exceptional survivor!

Look. I have hunted.
But if I saw a piebald or white deer.
I would let it go.
Probably take a picture.
Odd deer like that have it hard in the wild, the fact they survived makes them extra special.

This is what humanity should be, guardians of life, we should use our intellect to propagate and protect life in the cosmos.

Looks like you've got a new pet. It would be nice if you got to keep him. Then you can give him a name. How about Prancer.

I remember the rule for deers:
Ears are straight = deer doing great
Ears are curled = they are alone in the world

reply

Usually mom is not far away though, she's lucky the mom didn't come out of nowhere, it wouldn't have had a good ending.

I wish humans started to domesticate deer thousands of years ago. I would love to have a pet deer act like a dog

I’m having a battle in my mind to figure out if that’s a piebald whitetail or just a little baby fallow deer.

It might have been abandoned because it was too white which attracts predators.
