Something similar happened to my grandfather: He never uses his fireplace so he kept the glass door closed. Well, I guess the was a hole in the backside of the fireplace & a raccoon managed to get inside of him. The raccoon eventually had babies & my grandfather heard them making noise so he opened the fireplace to see the family of raccoons living in there.

We had raccoons in our attic in Florida TWICE! LOL The best way to get rid of them naturally is peppermint extract at the entrance. Does not hurt the babies and raccoons don't like it, so Mama will automatically move her babies just like this Mama did. It costs a lot less than having the pros do it.

These guys delivered the baby raccoons by C-Section, with the C standing for CEILING. They should include that on their list of services in their advertising!
