These fish have a very unusual reproductive cycle. Scientists were puzzled because all the specimens they caught were female. Because it's so rare for them to encounter each other in the deep sea, the males will latch onto any female they encounter. Their circulatory system and bodies then fuse, and the male degenerates into a parasitic sperm sac.

Yo, these things dont survive anywhere close to the surface. They know this and feel it, cause its like if we climb a mountain air is thinner and higher pressure. My question is, what made this thing swim up to a level it cant survive in, and will we see more Imma be honest, theres some things i would want to stay in the dark of the ocean.

Meanwhile in anglerFishTube: Here we can see a skoobadiver species swimming down near our habitat, it never happened before, which probably mean the skoobadiver is sick or dying. They cannot survive our water pressure so after 2 minutes it was dead and our researchers took him away for analysis

The video you were expecting: So I found 6 adorable anglerfish abandoned by a dumpster. They were just babies so I took it upon myself to foster them. Our cat loved them so much we had to keep her favorite. Now they've all gone to good homes and spread joy with their wonderful smiles.

Btw, this isn't the first footage of a live specimen, this is the first footage of a live specimen at the surface, MBARI filmed another female 10 years or so ago. She had a broken tooth and a lump in her belly suggesting a large meal.

this was sad. the way its lure was broken, the way its mouth is wide open, the way its black and its skin has peeled of like a gold fish that is neglected. i hope it was just old and not a victim of human activity.

Yeah, she doesn't look well at all. A lot of those really deep sea fish are specifically adapted for those high water pressures and their bodies literally don't function properly near the surface.

I did not make the original connection to this, but wanted to at least drop it here for people who know and it could resonate with. I would have liked. to see the skies of Baal. one. last. time.

If I remember correctly anglerfish live all the way down in the midnight zone of the ocean so it is a rare occurance for a creature such as this one to come up to the sunlight zone.

The angler fish should have exploded due to the difference in pressure.
Is our science faulty
My conclusion is that science will never truly understand creation nor the creator.

Given the fact that you felt it was necessary to refer to this fish as the scary fish from Finding Nemo just gives more reason to think we as a society is doomed.

I like to believe that it was its dying wish to see what’s above and saw light for the first time that wasn’t its own as it made its way to a new world.

Imagine landing on another planet with water, sending a camera into the depths, and seeing these things swimming around down there. It’s a true monster.
