As an adult watching Disney films, you have disturbing realizations that break your innocent childhood memories of the movies. You become aware of some suprising things that you would never have thought of as a young nave kid. Anyone who has rewatched their favorite childhood movies will have experienced the disturbing realizations you have as an adult watching Disney films. As a child, youre too innocent to pick up on a lot of issues in Disney movies. Racism, Sexism, Xrated moments, and Sexually charged behavior. You get the picture. Your nave joy becomes forever tainted once you notice the disturbing Disney plotlines, characters and representations. From specific problems in certain films to disturbing themes across many movies, weve delved into the most controversial Disney moments you cant help but notice as a wise old adult. There are overarching themes that you dont even give a second thought to as a kid. But as an adult, you cant believe you just went along with it all without questioning the disturbing themes. Like where are all the mothers? The possible explanation behind it reveals a tragic moment in Walt Disneys own life. And then theres the representation of women in general: specifically all those female villains. Why did so many Disney princesses have to deal with bad women? Start counting them up and youll be surprised. Zooming in on specific movies, Beauty and the Beast has a few questionable issues, like Belle falling in love with her captor, and the unbelievable relationship between two of the servants. With Cinderella the glass slipper throws up all kinds of questions to an adult. Some of the disturbing realizations youll have as an adult watching Disney movies are more lighthearted than others. More seriously disturbing moments of realization include the band of crows in Dumbo. When you watch the movie with an adults knowledge of the Jim Crow laws, youll be shocked by what youre watching. Some Disney movies teach pretty questionable lessons to kids. But you only realize the extent of it once youre an adult. Like Ariels disobedience in The Little Mermaid. On rewatching that film, youll also probably notice inappropriate moments, like the Priests disturbing trouser bulge. And then there are those movies that as an adult you discovered had an xrated scene you totally missed as a child. Like the topless woman in The Rescuers. Yes really. And when you see Tinker Bell and Peter Pans relationship as an adult, its not as innocent as you thought it was. Case in point: it involves actual spanking. Watch our video to have your childhood memories smashed, and

Some of these thing you guys nitpicked. meh. Triton was a narcissist who wasn't capable of communicating with his daughter to listen to her needs in any capacity, or explain WHY he felt the way he did about her wanting these things. This type of parenting warrants a rebellious kid.
I see MAJOR age discrimination in these films. I remember being scared to age, lest I turn into a jealous, EVIL older woman. and never desirable because I'm not young and pretty. This is American culture though.
I always wondered about not having a mother in these films haha
Also. how unhealthy it speaks to young girls that their goals and objective in life (all of their intellect, curiosity and independence) is merely to win over a man. but only of course, if you are thin, young and pretty.
I was always frustrated that I had noting in common with these girls and found the villains so much more interesting because they had PASSION and I empathized with them feeling like an outcast. I wanted to be Peter Pan. I wanted to go on adventures and be bold and daring and known for my courage. It wasn't until the 90's (correct me if I'm wrong) that there were stronger female characters who wanted adventure as much as the male characters. and even then, it ended up being used just to get a man's attention.

I take issue with the Stockholm accusations at Belle.
For one, she wasn't a hostage. She offered to stay, to get her Dad out of there. Having a choice in the matter absolutely changes the dynamic of her situation. She also ran for the literal hills when he screams at her in the west wing. She then only comes back to the house because he gets himself torn up saving her from wolves.
And it's only after that, when he starts making an effort to be polite and nice to her, that she shows anything like affection. And, of course, his baller library, full of her 100% favorite thing on Earth didn't hurt. She's got way more agency in that story than a lot of folks give her credit for.
Also, she didn't change him; He changed for her. That's why she fell in love with him.

Are you kidding me! You you're saying it's unbelievable how mrs Potts is Chips mother from being so old! How about the fact that Chip was probably either born after the curse or not long before it meaning he would have spent HIS ENTIRE LIFE up to that point living as a tea cup! He should be confused and horrified after his transformation into a human. It's not even that outrageous to believe they're mother and son, older people can still have children.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO NOTICE THE PRIEST! :O this was kinda cool. I have to disagree with the whole too many woman villains. i like that they show women can be bad. Plus disney borrows from other cultures. granted i don't know all of the originals, but who is to say that the originals didn't already come with the female baddies?

The most disturbing Disney movie IMO is the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The villain, Judge Frollo, has a priestly appearance and lusts after the heroine while trying to kill her disabled friend. When he can't win the girl he resorts to straight up arson, endangering countless lives and trying to abduct and rape the heroine. Dark stuff.

Walt Disney and his successors did not invent the fairy tales! They are all folk fairy tales, so if there is no mother or many women are bad, it has nothing to do with Disney. Also Belle, Peter Pan and so on. Such a waste of time, if the reporters not even know what they are talking about and can't research the sources.

To be fair the majority of Disney movies are based off something else, such as the brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson, so that's why it's evil female antagonists and motherless protagonists it's how they were originally done and it wasn't too dark for Disney to decide to change it.

What about the part in The Emperor's new groove, when Yzma lift's the hem of her dress to retrieve a dagger from her garter, and Kuzco and Pacha are going No, no please don't. as though she's going to expose herself to them?
reply

Hell of thing, these sick ass people in Hollywood. You can not even let your child watch a cartoon. Funny how these same people keep making movies. And so many people fall for there B. S.
reply

What about in Hercules where the centaur is trying to rape Meg? Or the racist priest's lust for Esmaralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame so strong he burns down an entire village?
