I'm a Flight Attendant. Some of these are true, some are fake and some are exaggerated. The high requirement is true for certain airlines like the one I work for because our planes are small, plus you have to be able to lift 75 pounds. The visible tattoos are right too, I have one in my arm but with our long sleeve uniforms it does not matter. About the payment is true, we (including pilots) start earning as soon as we closed the main cabin door, but in the US if a flight get canceled we are paid protected for any type of cancellation (weather, mechanical, etc, so we get paid. About swimming, specially here in the caribbean is crucial, during training we had to jump into the ocean and were told, you see the shore over there, good, start swimming. Weight is exaggerated here, you can be a little over weight but not obese, jump seats are small, plus you have to be able to move fast in the event of an emergency, so in part is true that your weight is been watch by the airline, not for aesthetics but for safety. I have never heard of the smoking rule as many pilots and flight attendants from different airlines including mine are smokers. Jewelry rule and make up for women vary from airline to airline. About the life style we are not loners, we work from 3 to 4 days away from home but we also have 4 to 7 days off afterward, but we do tend to sleep or do nothing the first day off, pressurization is hard and exhausting on your body.
Rules and requirements vary from airline to airline and from country to country and they are clearly stated in the application process. This video made our jobs seems like been in the army, its not.
If you want to be a flight attendant check the requirements of the airline you are applying to, but is a great life, like the video said, been a Flight attendant is not what you do is what you are. My family said I changed a lot during my first 2 years of been a Flight Attendant (like been a neat freak now) but they like the changes except for the little germophobia I acquired: .

Most of this is not true.
1. Most of the airplanes Ive been on one of the flight attendants have dyed hair. just saying
2. A lot of them have their hair down.
3. And some of them are pregnant.
4. And not all the girls wear makeup.
Just saying. but good video
Edit: Im bad at spelling and grammar so yeah.

Wow I must be on the reject flight attendant plane. I always get short ugly flight attendants with a bad attitude. One actually woke me up to ask if I wanted a drink while my water bottle was plainly visible. I did say hello when I got on the flight, but then I said ba Bye to her when I left.

I am not in the flight industry, but I don t have a lot confidence watching this, all that superficial stuff is great, but if the plane has a problem, I would rather have good staff that can deal with the issue. More importantly than look perfect.

Funny thing is i dont care what the flight attendant look like, I just want them to get what I need (reliable), nice, and answer my questions when I need it. Thats it.

I know this is late, but none of these are true. My aunt is a flight attendant and has never heard of any of these requirements except for the safety guidelines.

I would love to be a flight attendant as I fit the personality, experience with customers, bilingual but the only thing is, that I'm very short. ;(
