I don't know. I bought a pair of shoes the other day that were $180, I had a code that made them like $120 and still got free shipping from the site. so I saved $50. I was going to buy the shoes either way so I won in my perspective. Lol. Although I've been in a furniture store and there was a sofa originally like $1, 000 and then I heard they were having a closing sale. went back and they had marked prices of things UP because they KNEW they were going to have a sale, the sale price of the same sofa from before was $1, 300 when we went back. :/ So sometimes stores will make prices higher if they know they're going to have some kind of big future sale to make it look like you saved money when in actuality they just marked the prices up beforehand to try and make you not know the difference.

you have to look at the clothes on the way to the sale bin ehh no. no you don't. if you are on your way to the sale bin you go to the sale bin,
seriously women can't shop.
either you are browsing and willing to spend money on stuff you don't need.
(walk though every isle looking at delicious things or nice stuff)
or you go to buy a specific item. like buying milk.
if i go to the store to only buy one thing i don't come home with 50 things. i come home with the one thing i needed. i am in the store for no more then 2 minutes. 1. 5 of wich are at the cash register.
you know where evrything is.
you know what you need.
so you walk in. grab what you need. and pay. it's as simple as that

There is another gimmic stores use. People are more likely to buy something on sale but refuse to buy anything not on sale. All department stores have items on a flat rate price. In other words, the items that are the same price all the time and never go on sale. Some of these flat rate items will be cheaper than the items on sale and have the same quality and look similar to the items on sale. Just because an item is on sale does not mean you will save money when a flat rate item is cheaper.

Similar to what you said about the $20 and the $40 sometimes sales can actually make you lose money. Basically, in a store a shirt costs $20 then the store raises the price to $50. A couple days later the store will have a 50% off sale. So you buy the shirt for $25 thinking you just saved a lot of money but you actually just spent 5 more dollars.

To expand on the sales rack thing.
Sometimes you also go to a store wanting to spend very little but you can tell the employees might judge you if they knew that so you pretend to browse for a bit so you dont look picky. And then you end up finding something you love thats WAY out of budget and you have to buy it cuz you have no impulse control

Here are some tips: learn how to navigate the coupon world, DONT BUY 500 dollar phones when 100 dollar phones also call/text. Never fall for the too good to be true Buy one, get one sales. Make a plan before you enter the store to go extacly where you need to go straight to clearance for example. And have self control lmao.

I went to Walmart: they had their summer items (charcoal, smores, etc) on separate middle displays. they were the most expensive brands of those items! SOLUTION: Go to the section where all the brands of that item are displayed to compare brands and prices. That way you practice more restraint and save money.

you could say i've been tricked a few times by buying beef jerkey at the front of the store, but I usually buget myself by giving me a strict limit I can't go over and I usually spend less then the budget by a dollar or two. If something is too expensive I'm not even tempted by it

I'm must b the weird odd woman out here cuz most of this stuff never really affects me. Maybe its the cheapness in me. I tend to stick to a normal routine. Don't care if its buy one get one. Most time I go generic for foods n clothes I love to browse the thrift store

I used to work in a shoe store and we had stickers on shoe boxes with the old prices and new sale prices. I was actually told that most shoes never cost more than their sale price, they just added the old price to fool people into thinking that theyre saving money.
