were going over the experiences some of our favorite actors have endured over the years in order to bring these stories to the screen. From struggling to breathe, having their body physically changed, and being left with permanent injuries from corsets, its surprising to hear just how much of a struggle actresses endure for a role. Well be listening to the experience of actors like Millie Bobby Brown, Nina Dobrev, and Kate Winslet in movies and TV shows like Enola Holmes, Cinderella, The Vampire Diaries, and Superwoman. After hearing and listening to these actors experience, youll never be able to watch a period piece the same again. Its no wonder Emma Watson was adamant about not wearing a corset for her role as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. We probably would have done the same after watching this video. Let us know what actor on this list you think deserves the most awards for their breathtaking experiences. Thanks for watching and well catch you in another video

Historical corsets were comfortable, made to fit and the whalebone was very flexible- it frustrates me so much that people complain about corsets and always assume the worst without doing ANY research. Corsets were structured undergarments- a million times more comfortable than a cheap bra with a wire.
The only way in which they could be uncomfortable and harmful, is when they were tight laced- which was only a thing in the very high- society who were determined to have the most fashionable silhouettes, and was very uncommon overall. And for them to be harmful- you would have to wear tight laced corsets for quite a while.
People shouldnt make videos like this- claiming that they were Torture devices used to oppress woman- this is absolute nonsense- they were undergarments used to reinforce & support and were excellent at doing so.

I think this is the fault of the directors or the costume department. Take for instance Lilly James in Cinderella. She was corseted down to 17 inches. It takes years of consistent tightlacing to wear a corset that tight with comfort. Why did she need to be corseted down to that? The skirt and the Bertha were already making her waist look small. They could have had her corset down to a comfortable measurement. You don't need to corset down to a crazy measurement to look like you have a tiny waist. I corset down two inches or even one and my waist already looks small. They shouldn't make these actresses tightlace like this.

They werent forced to wear them, they could just not do the movie and corsets are necessary for period dramas, also they arent supposed to be uncomfortable the problem is that the actresses were not used to wearing corsets they were probably poorly made and they were tight laced, these are things you should never do, working women wore them for centuries and they had mouths to feed and work to do, they didnt give a crap about being pretty, they cared for support

lol forced you auditioned for roles that took place in certain eras, so you gotta dress for the part. no one forced you, you literally signed up for it lmfaoo. as for them being ill-fit, that's totally on the wardrobe team for not knowing how to apply a corset correctly smdh
eta 4: 58, and she didn't say a word then that's on you gal. actual strong women speak up about their discomfort

In all honesty, in reality, a child wearing a corset isn't as strange as to how modern people like to picture it. There were even corsets for babies and children younger than Millie, not to mention even men wore corsets, but it would be structured a little differently. I don't know why the misinformation is not being stopped, but. It is still circulating.

Okay lets get one thing straight, PLEASE DONT CRIMINALIZE CORSETS!
Nowadays people put on corsets the WRONG way. Back in the day when corsets where more developed, they were put on the right way and they didnt hurt. I (rarely) wear a corset and Im 16. It does not hurt me, and its comfy. Mostly cause I put in on correctly but DO NOT CRIMINALIZE CORSETS.

A corset would seem like the most unnecessary thing need for Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman to have wear. Since she's not working in movie that's at the time when women wore corsets. For it didn't seem like the other amazon cast and extra had wear them.

No! Corsets are comfy and only restrict bending over. They need to be broken in, work OVER SOMETHING for comfort, laced snug but not tight, and should NOT keep you from eating a meal. Maybe not a feast, but not just liquids.

Millie Bobby is a lying, men hating toxic individual. I don't know the other characters.
Also stop lying about corsets. They aren't uncomfortable, and can be loosened further. They also look beautiful.

seeing that Phoebe was left with marks on her body is just painful to watch. especially knowing that that could've been avoided so easily if they just PUT SOMETHING UNDERNEATH IT LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO!
