These comparisons are so ridiculous that I was going to waste my time arguing against them but honestly it's not worth it. It's so tiring that people always try to compare everything to Harry Potter. All of this arguments presented in the video are elements of any fantasy story. Shadow and Bone has nothing to do with Harry Potter. I wonder how frustrating it must be for fantasy authors to constantly have their works compared to the iconic Harry Potter.

Ok heres the thing tho, the darkling is looking nothing like Voldemort. Absolute plot twist he tried to play the good guy and then uncovered his true self, while Voldemort well he made his presence of being the bad guy was so obvious. And the most noticeable difference is that the darkling has a nose, unlike voldie standing one the other side of the room

Most of fantasy YA books have these tropes. The chosen one, (Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson ) as well as a place where they can be safe and the friendship bond between three characteres like in The Wheel of Time. And they normally are orphans like in the Name of the Wind etc.

I feel like these commonalities are not so much copying as it is use of common fantasy conventions. Harry Potter did not invent these tropes and there are other fantasy stories with more substantial similarities.
