There was a native American virsion where the prince was a a chief with a magical gift who was so sought after as a husband that he told his sister he would only marry the woman who was honest, he could be invisible and his sister would go talk to all the women in the village saying only the one who could see him would be his bride. All of the women except one lied claiming they could see him. But the last women in the tribe said she could not see him and expressed sarrow that is when he made himself visible to everyone and revealed that it had been a trick

The setting of Cinderella is directly mirrored in older versions of Beauty and the Beast wherein Beauty is tormented by two selfish sisters and made to labor for the whole family day in and day out. Her prince, of course, is the Beast of the enchanted woods to whom she must go in order to relieve her beleaguered merchant father from a debt. She grows to love the beast which frees him from a curse (that he did not bring on himself, btw) and reanimates the servants and courtiers who resided there- much like in Disney's Sleeping Beauty.

Disney only adapted the French version of Cinderella, it even stated at the beginning of the movie so I don't see how it's fake. The Brothers Grimm version where the stepsisters cut off their feet so that the shoe would fit is not the original version contrary to popular belief, it's just the German version. There are many variants of Cinderella from around the world so there is no original story. The earliest Cinderella story is from Greece and it's called Rhodopis.
