Disney's new origin story (which is actually more of a re-imagining or retelling than an origin story) washed out the TRUE origin story, both the origin of the original story and Disney's 1959. In truth, Maleficent was an outcast DUE TO JUST BEING DIFFERENT. This bares more similarities to her being outcast simply because of her ETHNICITY and RACE. Notice how in the beginning of the movie, even this movie, she is called Maleficent. Why? It means evil. Yet, the fairies called her this. In this new live action film, she was called this before she put a curse on Aurora, before she showed any ill intent. The movie failed to go into detail about this aspect, and that's because someone who doesn't know shit about Sleeping Beauty, someone who didn't pay attention to the details, got hold of the story and went their own direction based on their own frustrations with patriarchy, not considering the context of this story. Maleficent was simply not invited to Aurora's christening because she's different, i. e. A different ethnicity with different skin. She was evil just because of that. She wasn't wanted because she was assumed bad news, not given a chance at redemption by the royal family. But none of the movies could really take it there because they got the wrong writer to tackle Maleficent. They failed to focus on the real racial undertones of the original story, and instead went ahead with an origin story that just didn't need to be over-re-written when the blue-print was right there.

Eleanor Audley and Angelina Jolie were both perfect for the role of Maleficent. I am on Maleficent's side. Shes not evil. It was Stephan's fault. And in the original movie Sleeping Beauty it was Stefan's fault completely. So thats why she is evil. And the fairies started calling her annoying at school when she was a kid. So thats why she Maleficent became evil.

Like all of us, Maleficent is neither good or evil. Maleficent represents a strength we all have within us that can be used for either side.
The point worth taking very seriously is Maleficent never gave up, chose to continue to learn and be influenced which made her grow in every way possible.
If that's evil, sign me up.

I wonder why everyone call her the most evil villain. It was actually Stephen (I'm sry if it's Steven) who forced her to become evil when she is actually never. I actually cried watching the movie (maleficent not Sleeping Beauty) just because I felt bad for her.

This movie made men cry lols. also. I love this new version.
