I don't think that Jane is the hero because (spoiler alert is you haven't seen decendants 3 yet) she was hiding from the sleeping spell that Audrey caused because she stole Maleficent's staff and Jane went into the Enchanted lake where she was having her birthday party so she wouldn't be affected by the spell because the lake is enchanted. She was not looking for anything.
