It's easy to judge them but when you take a step back, you realizes that they were in a very tough place. Imagines yourself waking up one night to discover that one daughter is hurt, the other daughter could possibly get kill for being misunderstood and on top of that you have a entire kingdom who relies on you for their own safety. There is also the fact that that there are no other magical users beside the trolls and even they have limited information about the type of magic that Elsa have so they couldn't do much anyway. While Anna getting hurt was an accident, Pabbie did have a point when he said that Elsa's power would grow as she get older. Even in the beginning of the second film, Elsa admits that there are times that it is hard to control her power despite being able to manages it much better than before. For better or for the worse, Elsa really did had to learn to control her power before anything else.
That is one of the tragic in the first film in my opinion. The trolls and parents all want to help Elsa and for her to be happy, but they're not sure how to do it. The parents didn't want any of this but as adults and parents, they had to make the tough choices. You can even see in Do you want to Build a Snowman? that they are clearly heartbroken over all of this but had to be strong for both of their daughters. They likely were the ones who made the situation at least bearable for both girls before they left. Their final moment shows their love for each of their daughters. They gave Anna a hug and told Elsa that she would be fine without them. They also refuses to even celebrates Christmas without Elsa. The family would suffers together.
What people are overlooking is how much Elsa and Anna both loves and misses their parents. It would be easy for them to go to the immature route of blaming them for everything that they didn't like. But they don't do that. They both handles it maturely. They learns from their parents' mistakes while still honoring and respecting them. They get that it was a difficult situation where mistakes could easily been made. Elsa is well-aware of all of the sacrifices that they made and feels guilty because she never wanted to be the reason why their parents did bent over backwards for her or loses their lives over. Anna may had wished that her parents told her the truth so she could helps but she doesn't hates them. The true tragic is that this family never got to fully come back together.

Sorry im late but i actually agree because even tho elsa saw the past about them but it was not enough to show us, how they became a couple and why did lieutenant matius even said parents? So he knows what happened to them but they only met in the forest for the first time and still confuses me, also is it just me elsa and honeymaren looks the same it can be that they are cousins because she is the daughter of iduna's sister but it is not clear

I think that Idunna and Agnarr had spoken before the fighting started, then she went to get her scarf. When the battle started she wasn't thinking, she just found Agnarr, carried him to safety, and then dozed off beside him. When she woke up she was wearing an Arendelle dress, the mist was blocking the way back to the forest, and he had no memory of their earlier meeting. With no home to go back to, she accompanied him to Arendelle.

correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not sure but I think that Queen Iduna and King Agnarr went to Ahtohallan is because maybe they want to know where elsa got her powers, if you watched the whole movie, you can still remember that when they were at the boat (where Queen Iduna and King Agnarr drowned at Frozen 1) the water bring back the memories and then it forms Elsa's parents saying for elsa blah blah

Why didnt Agnarr know that iduna saved him? Why didnt iduna tell him she saved him from being stuck in the enchanted forest? I dont understand that part of the movie. Dont you think Iduna would tell him and the girls that she saved him?
reply

But hos did Agnarr and Iduna Got out of the forrest when the mist hit the forrest? And why did Iduna had a darker skin color and brown eyes, when she lived in the forrest and white skin and blue ejes when she lived in Arendal?
reply

I strongly agree that the king and queen deserve their own movie really. Because much is feeling left out.
. also a bit of revenge on unfaithful fans: Tarzan theory still holds

reply

I am wondering if Iduna is related to the chief of the Northuldrian people that was killed by King Runeard. It would make what she did for Agnarr more impactful.
reply

I really wanted the parents to be alive. Like what if they were frozen the same way Elsa was in frozen 2 and then they could be unfrozen when Elsa was ya know
reply

I think we can assume that Idunna was wearing more than just her scarf when she left her people. I don't think Disney would approve of nudity in their movies.
