Just wanted to throw my two cents on here so take it as you please.
Honestly Luna is really smart. She was able to convince harry and others that nargels where behind the disappearance of her shoes or part of a mischief act and they never asked any questions about it. Yet, behind the scenes Luna spread this lie in order to avoid conflict. Case in point, the trio arent the greatest when it comes to confrontation. To them wands speak louder than words. So if the trio earned that she was being bullied they would immediately try to find the perpetrators and bring forth there own form of justice. Which is something Luna doesnt enjoy seeing.
More so, I believe that Luna already knew who took her shoes and what their intentions where but rather than confront them she did what a lot of people dont generally do. She avoided any confrontations and played on the same level as the bully. Yeah it might have been funny at first stealing her shoes and putting them in random places and it was funnier seeing her walk around bare footed. But how long can the joke continue. If your victim isnt playing along is it even worth bullying them. Im certain that after days of watching luna go barefooted the bullys just gave up. If they couldnt humilate her by stealing her shoes than what good of a reason would it be to ransack her belongs and hide those as well. Heck in their minds it wouldnt shock them if they stoled her clothes and Luna decided she was going to bare it all in a i dont really care attitude. So with no fuel to add on the fire the bullies launched her shoes over the door and left her alone permanently. Once harry saw them he was able to piece together the entire story but never confronted Luna about her Bullies because to harry Luna was already 10 steps ahead of the bullies without them ever realizing it.

Luna embodies a witch in the truest sense of the word, i say this because the original pronunciation of Witch was (Witz) as in someone that has a keen mind and it fast on their feet. I also have to wonder how much of what we know about Luna was an Act.

Luna is amazing, but over half the things you say about her, are not true, sure she is brave smart nice and quirky, but finding the gray lady, and finding harry on the train, and other things you said are not what happened in the book.

Actually Neville could see the thestrals too, as he saw his grandfather die.

Luna was perfectly cast. I have known two or three such people in my long gray haired life. She is a strong case for Human cloning and an easy character to love.
