Perhaps an unpopular opinion - I disliked the live action movie.
Every character (imho) is weaker.
Maleficent WAS a woman who is evil and was snubbed so she curses a child as is like 'peace, deal with it) and clearly there could have been some 'Wicked' esque motivation given, but the live action makes her another woman scorned by a man.
Aurora, while having very little screen time, is able to evoke class, cleverness, and cunning, something they scrap for 'playfulness' with Elle Fanning.
And Maleficent isn't 'one dimensional' as people say she was in the animated version, but they relegate that to Stephan now, who ultimately just becomes the one dimensional villain to be defeated.
Eh. not my cup of tea.

I prefer the new Maleficient in the 2019 Live-Action Maleficient b/c the 2019 movie gives Maleficent a backstory, a more reasonable reason why she curses baby Aurora, and explains why she turns evil. I like the fae Maleficient better than the dark fairy Maleficent b/c the only reason fae Maleficient turn evil is b/c Stefan who is Aurora's father and who is her childhood friend betrays her, lie to her, uses her weakness which is iron against her, and forcefully remove her wings. On the other hand, the reason why the dark fairy Maleficent curse baby Aurora is b/c she was mad that she was not invited to baby Aurora's christening, and after Merryweather said she was not wanted she decides to curse baby Aurora.

i love maleficent especially the second one it ways very great and more intense and maleficent was way diffrent when she was in descendants now i realise that maleficent dose not deserve what people think of her and i feel bad for her back story and the part when she saved auroa from her deep sleep my heart fled of emotion and i started crying i hope there will be a 3rd one because at the end of the second one it said maleficent will be back for the baby and i got so exsited

When I heard the live action was gonna be made I was ECSTATIC when I heard Angelina Jolie was gonna play Maleficent. Like seriously it was the BEST choice filmakers could have ever done. She was BORN to play that role and she did not disappoint me whatsoever in my book, even Elle Fanning brought so much more than the animated version had done. I truly love both Maleficent and the sequel.

The first one (cartoon) was a liiiiiitle bit failure for me. I mean come on why EVERY fairytale should have a prince and a princess love story? Love cant be ONLY beetween a man and a woman. It can also be beetween mother and daughter or sister and sister! They did great that they made the 2 live action Maleficent! Im very happy about that

The animated classic will always be my favorite Maleficent. Eleanor Audley's voice work is unbeatable and Marc Davis' character design of her never leaves anyone's memory.
