For many people, the idea of a rat cooking their food in a fancy restaurant is enough to make them never want to eat out again. And yet, that is the story of the beloved Pixar classic Ratatouille. Even though it didnt make as big of a splash as the box office as some other Pixar hits like The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, or Finding Nemo, Ratatouille has since developed millions and millions of adoring fans, and has even sparked a full length Broadway style musical, created entirely on TikTok! Lets see what Nemo has to say about that! But even though it might have been the adorable animation, the heartwarming story, or the endearing characters that made Ratatouille a classic, we think its actually all about the ending. You see, while all Pixar movies have happy endings, the message of Ratatouilles is so meaningful, so sweet, and so incredibly important that it is impossible not to fall completely in love with it. While the musical trend certainly made its mark on the internet, giving TikTok all of the credit for the growth of appreciation for Ratatouille (let alone making it the main talking point of the review) when the film started to become popular even before the pandemic, is a gross overgeneralization. The movie became popular because word of mouth started spreading about how much of a neglected masterpiece the film was and it started to make the top of Pixar rankings. The whole reason why the Remy the Ratatouille song was made is because of the Disneyland EPCOT ride that was meant to come out. The musical didn't even surface until almost a full year after the film started to become popular, and it was able to thrive because it came at the peak of the movie's popularity. It isn't even the first Ratatouille musical.
