The Similarities Between Moana, Mulan And Raya And The Last Dragon Are Creepily Close! Hey, TheThings fans! Disney has added a new Disney Princess to the roster and she has the potential to go down in the Disney books as one of the best characters yet. However, we couldnt help but notice how similar the film and its characters are to two other pretty big Disney movies Mulan and Moana. Raya and the Last Dragon takes inspiration from Southeast Asian culture. It follows Raya who looks to restore the world of Kumandra who broke apart hundreds of years ago after the dragons sacrificed themselves for the people. Raya is on a quest to restore the peace in Kumandra by finding the last dragon and putting a rest to the Druun who have returned to threaten her people. If you think her story sounds kind of familiar you arent alone. In fact her journey to the last dragon is strangely similar to Moanas venture past the Horizon. Thats not all. Remember Eddie Murphys Mushu from Mulan? Well Raya has a sidekick dragon named Sisu voiced by Awkwafina that acts a whole lot the same. Those arent even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the similarities we discovered in their stories. Maybe it has something to do with Moana and Raya and the Last Dragon having the same producers and some of the same voice actors? Lets find out! Do you think Disney has made Raya original enough to stand her own ground as one of the best Disney Princess warriors or did they just say copy and paste? Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Hit that subscribe button and well see you in another video

As an islander there's literally no connection between Asian cultures and us pasifika people. People from png, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia and also Australian aboriginals have so much in common and unique cultures we're so diverse but little reputation in mainstream media. As an islander the movie Moana gave me a sense of pride and joy because we don't get that much attention from the rest of the world. We are beautiful dark, olive and brown skin people.
We definitely need our own branch for our own people.

Why do I feel Mulan and Moana are the ancestors of raya? And Moana and raya look the same soo it has a slight ability it can be true
And for Mulan mulans sword is just like rayas right? I feel rayas sword was from Mulan just passed down to her in the show we did not see
Where raya got the sword so it can be a slight possibility that Mulan and Moana are Rayas ancestors tell me what you guys think

I just wanted to point out that one of Raya's outfit is very similar to Korra's outfit (From the Legend of Korra) the hair style is the same and the outfit is blue. The tribes also look the similar, some people believe that Raya and the Last Dragon is a rip off of Avatar and Korra. But hey i dont side with anyone

They should've said similarities instead of copy. And why do they never realize literally the same stories of the western princesses? Same perfect gowns, the prince charming, big castle, etc kinda things. (Frozen and Tangled are exceptions. I don't think showing female independence in movies is copying.

Did you guys ever think that Mulan and Raya are distant relatives? I mean the similarities. They're both asian, their fathers look alike, the sword was probably passed down from generation to generation, and they are fearless women
reply

Im very please that many other commenters have the same opinion. This was a great movie with its own interesting story. Lots of the movies similarities are either from culture or the animation studio; art is imitation.

The question is.
Which of these movie is highly rated and which is low to you?
To me i don't care if its copied. As long as the versions are pictured better. Like the Story, character design etc.

reply

To be honest before I saw the movie I was thinking was a mix of them and I guess it does but a little different tho its my new favorite show
reply

It's not copied cause it's made by same creater Disney. If I make a movie and then make another and use ideas from my previse one, it's not copy
reply

What. how is any of this copying? Both Mulan and Raya are from different parts of Asia, of course they have similarities. Its common sense
